I want to see how the Wings react to this adversity. Will they pummel the divealanche or will they put their head in the sand like they've done all year? Oh and they never call diving anymore. I haven't seen it in like 3 or 4 seasons.

Can we for once overcome adversity and win despite all the officiating and one of our own (Ericsson) deliberately playing against us? We have way more talent than this second rate ECHL lineup Colorado has. There's no excuse for not winning this game.

Maybe they can convert the Milwaukee Bucks to a hockey team. I mean when's the last time that team accomplished anything?

Their goes their chance of winning it all this year. Not very often do you hear of a goalie constantly being plagued with injuries. I remember Dan Blackburn a few years back or Hasek getting hurt towards the end of his career.

And I always heard hockey was going down in popularity in Canada because of the growing immigrant population, which is mostly from Asian countries that don't care about hockey?

Hard to market a sport that isn't on television. It would be like marketing the English Premiere League here in the USA. Actually, that's not a good example, because espn frequently shows soccer games from around Europe. Anyway, you get the point.

Am I the only one who thinks this had no effect at the end of the day? They beat Germany and Russia easily and Slovakia didn't have many shots on goal until the end. Luongo honestly didn't look that much better than Brodeur and probably didn't put up better numbers. USA just had better bounces against Brodeur and Miller played better in that game. I guess what I'm saying is that they would have won even with Brodeur, although I still think he's overrated.

He made one huge mistake on the Rafalski goal when he didn't clear the puck well. I also think Babcock did it as a message sender, but I'm just saying that this is a scenario where the goalie change probably didn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things. I doubt Brodeur would have lost the Gold Medal for them had he continued.

That's higher than I had expected. Unheard of for hockey in this country. I wish it was always like this for hockey.

That's a part of it, but I think they'd be motivated anyway after that loss to USA, whether Brodeur was pulled or not.

That is my least vulnerable spot. Sure, we're good again. So long as you can put aside your newfound love for Crosby, Pronger, Perry, Getzlaf, Iginla and Niedermayer. -

This may be the best thread anyone has started in a long time. Canada with 11 less medals and Germany with 7 less.

That's a good point. I won't watch any of those sports either. I sure hope hockey isn't as low on the totem pole as those sports, however.

I guess everyone sadly shares my sentiments on this. The announcers made it sound way bigger than what it really means. It may be a big deal in Canada, but here no one would care long term, even if America had won.
