I doubt most casual fans know who was or wasn't favored to win the Gold. Maybe it was becuase of 9/11 like Electrophile said. Or maybe it's because of our budding war with Canada.

I don't recollect why, but I don't remember there being so much hype 8 years ago. The hype this time around is unreal. I've never seen anything like it in my time living in America. People who don't know s*** about hockey are talking about it everywhere. For some reason, no one seemed to care back in 2002.

Backes and Orpik are both on that list for me. Probably a few others, but my mind is drawing blanks for me right now.

USA played much better against Finland. Canada looked weak there. They're lucky Demitra sucks at shooting the puck.

Wow, Canada is having a lot more trouble with Slovakia than the U.S. had with Finland. I'm frankly not that impressed with the Canadians win or lose. Babock will choke again!

I didn't realize I had to play against the Canada team. As for the U.S, they'll be fine. God hates Canada, because Bertuzzi is Canadian. They will lose.

God, these last several Olympic games have been ******* duds. It's all been downhill since that Canada-USA game. Where's the goddamn competition?

Man, this is why I wanted Sweden to win. At least, they wouldn't have sat back the whole game and played scared like Slovakia is doing. This team is just happy to have gotten this far.

Gaborik, Chara and Hossa are MIA right now. They have no chance of winning without those guys having a great game. They need to push it somewhat offensively.

European teams are not sub-standard. In 1998 and 2006, it was Euro teams who met in the Gold Medal game. This just wasn't their year to dominate. Where were USA and Canada in the last Olympics? In the toilet. -
Why can't the Olympics end with the U.S. beating down Canada? Closing ceremonies are boring anyway. The opening ceremony is where all the ratings are at. I'm just saying that more people are at home Sunday evenings than they are Sunday mornings. Yet another fail by NBC. Just have the closing ceremony be at 10:30 at night, like all those late night hockey games we had to watch. Or better yet, show a taping of the closing ceremonies.

Why isn't it on primetime TV later on in the evening? That would be better for TV ratings. People have other things to do Sunday mornings than watch hockey.

I'm rooting for Slovakia today, just to see Hossa lose in the Finals again in the Gold Medal game. Wouldn't that make Hawks fans nervous?

He's old and his numbers this season suck. He wouldn't even crack our top 6, so it's not worth pursuing him.
