Game over. On to LA.
-
Why do we continue to suck so badly at covering the point?
-
Boogaard. I'd trade some of our important players for him.
-
First, has anyone ever seen a diving penalty called without a penalty also being called on the other player? I personally haven't. Second, is it just me, or is the number of diving penalties being called this season significantly down? A few years ago, they called diving quite a bit, but I haven't seen it called once this season in any of the games I've watched.
-
Just replace him with my boy Anders Eriksson. No biggie.
-
I don't think Kovalev is that far removed from being a good player. Same with a Zherdev or Zubov. A few of those guys if not all should have been on the team over some of the newbies who've had a little lucky start to the season.
-
Thanks for clearing that up. It's very unfortunate they did that.
-
So you'd rather have Afinogenov than Kovelev on the team if you're a fan of Team Russia? I sure as hell wouldn't.
-
Nice video. I wonder if they gave Avery a double minor for diving on that play?
-
He's one of the two worst announcers I've ever heard in terms of being a homer. The other is the divealanche announcer who called that infamous Roy/Osgood fight. This guy think Lucic is like the greatest fighter in league history or something. It's embarrassing hearing him call that guy's fights.
-
So did they make an emphasis at their league meetings to call less diving penalties? If they did, I guess that goes in line with them wanting more powerplays, because divings offset the powerplays, but I don't remember any such thing being made official to everyone.
-
Does that powerplay look different or WHAT?!?!

Homer is always great on PP's, but he's looked completely useless 5 on 5 all season, including last night. When Franzen comes back, it might not be a bad idea to demote Homer to one of the lower lines and play him on the PP. He just seems to disappear in 5 on 5 play. Oh and to answer the OP, yes the PP did look great last night. It'll look even better when Franzen returns, when their options expand. Really, as Lidstrom goes, so does the powerplay. He's finally hitting the net, unlike earlier this year when he was missing everything by about 10 feet. -
Is that the bald guy who used to play in Nashville? Isn't he playing in the KHL now?
-
This poll would have been more interesting had the OP asked who the best goalie is right now, and not who would you want to win one big game. That's why Brodeur has so many votes.
-
Why can't every goalie play against us the way Nabokov does? We make s***bag goalies look like legends, but we always make him look like an ass.
-
Finally Holland paid the refs off. I love these quick whistles.
-
Yes! I was wrong!
-
Another penalty when we're up by 2 goals. I called it. Now San Jose will pull the goalie and score a goal off a bad clearing attempt. Then they'll pull the goalie again and we'll see what happens. Hope I'm wrong.
-
Slight tweak usually means out 2 weeks when the Wings doctors announce it.
-
I hope he's O.K. That could put a damper on this evening.
-
Need to keep their foot on the gas pedal. This team is healthy now, so there's no more reason to play defensive hockey when up by 2 goals. We have the talent now to keep going offensively. Also, San Jose is guaranteed some PP chances being down. That's the "new NHL" for you.
-
I hate to say it, but I voted for "fat boy" Marty Brodeur. He's been terrible the last few playoffs, but he's still the most proven goalie out of that group to win one big game. Miller has had a terrific year but what has he ever won?
-
It'd be funny if they're freeing up space for Forsberg or Sundin.
-
Decent period. Almost scored several times but also came close to giving up several goals. We need these points more than San Jose, so hopefully this team will play like it. Hank has been awesome in this game. I missed seeing him actually be a force offensively.

Crosby, Malkin and anyone are scarier.
