I don't think Wings fans enjoy victories as much as they enjoy avoiding defeat. The JLA was louder during the Wings playoff runs in the mid 90's, before this team started winning Cups and finishing in first place every year. The fans have just become jaded and bored with successs. It's almost expected now.

Madonna actually used to be one of my favorite non-Wings players ever, but for some reason, I stopped liking him over the years. He did have some whining moments with team USA, but I don't think that was the reason. Honestly, we don't need to bring him in for any reason. If we need a 40 year old man to help us score because our 30 year old Euro twins suck all of a sudden, then we're in big trouble already. There's bound to be better options.

I want to see a return of the big talentless goons, like the league had in the 90's. These middleweight fighters are getting kind of annoying.

Has anyone considered that his headaches may be due in part to him watching Lebda and Ericsson's play this season? Just sayin.....

How My Love 4 Hockey Affected My Feelings Towards B-Ball
GMRwings1983 replied to rage's topic in General
I don't know, but I think it's higher than the percentage of NBA players that attend college. Also, in Europe education tends to be better than in the U.S, and the NHL has a lot more Europeans than the NBA. -
How My Love 4 Hockey Affected My Feelings Towards B-Ball

For the last decade, most NBA players either come from Europe as teens, skip college right out of high school, or play one year in college and then jump to the NBA. So no, they don't go to college. The guys that stay 4 years in college don't usually wind up playing in the NBA. -
How My Love 4 Hockey Affected My Feelings Towards B-Ball

I agree and have been saying it for years. The NBA needs to give teams 3 timeouts per half. Are these players so stupid, that they need a timeout after each whistle down the stretch? I mean, isn't that what these morons train and practice for? -
I hate how good goalies are now. Hockey looks more exciting when I watch highlights of old games, where goalies are giving up shots from the blue line that would never go in now. I hate the butterfly goaltending s***.

Exactly. The TV deal is a joke.
-
The TV situation. Easily number one.

Just a hypothetical question of course. I think Howard is the only Wing that would likely get in, unless the fans voted in some of our other players as starters. I can't think of anyone else on the team who's been playing at an all-star level, except maybe Lidstrom, whose offensive numbers are a little down. Even then, Howard would have a few goalies to compete with in Quick and Anderson. The fans would likely have voted in Kiprusoff or Luongo as the starter.

FSD should fire Mickey and hire Osgood as the color commentary guy. False reporting needs to be discouraged.
-
Maybe it was Osgood. He was getting kind of bored in the locker room.

Anything. If I didn't know any better, I could swear that they've been scratched for the last 30 games. They're not making much of an impact even at their own roles.
-
Wow, I'm glad you're not a GM. FAIL!!!!!!

Come to think of it, when was the last time Draper and Maltby did anything useful? I guess I just feel like attacking everyone tonight.
-
I for one always knew that Leino was going to suck. I had advocated vehemently for an enforcer, and that he was going to be another soft euro who was afraid to battle for pucks.
-
Who can blame him for jumping the way the Wings have played this year? He's a bigger fan than any of us apparently.
-
I honestly don't care anymore. If Calgary actually wants to make the playoffs and are playing hard in a big game (unlike the Wings tonight), then so be it. They deserve it more than us, as does LA. They stepped up tonight and we didn't. Keep in mind, we have more talent than either of those teams. Injuries or not.
-
No way they'll top micah and Shoreline.
-
Today's was the worst. It looked like they stopped playing altogether after that Rafalski goal. That last shift of the first period set up the rest of the game for LA.
-
I dont' think this team looks that much better than what they did in December, when a lot more players were injured. I'm just not seeing any improvement. Kronwall and Homer will likely help, but who are they going to replace in the lineup? Our role players are playing better than the stars right now.
-
The Wings deserve to make the playoffs like I deserve to have a threesome with Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel. Let's face it, if we make the playoffs, we aren't going very far. Who wants to see a series full of blown 2 goal leads and bad third periods by this team?
-
Would it be too much for Babcock to put Zetterberg on the 4th line with Leino? That might send him a message.
-
Have you noticed that all those teams are better than us and play a lot harder? That's all that counts. This team isn't headed in the right direction. They're too lazy and probably don't belong in the playoffs.
