I think you're in denial and afraid to admit anything that doesn't make you sound like a complete homer. We got severely outplayed 3 of the 5 games on this road trip, including an absolutely pathetic loss last night. Our superstar players take nights off and frequently look invisible out there. On top of that, we've had all these s***ty injuries this season plaguing us. The team is headed in the wrong direction. You're either the biggest homer here, or you just hate my posts so much that you're letting it cloud your judgment. I didn't say anything that was wrong or wasn't backed up. I leave that up to you.

Nice thought out response to my post. I expected no less.

Oh please. Whatever Backes envisioned from Nash, it didn't look like that's what he got. Nash looked pissed off there. Besides, with that visor on, what else could Nash's punches have connected with. Yeah, I know Nash also had one on, but you can't blame him for anything he did there. Backes is the one who started s*** for no reason, and once again with a superstar player like Toews. I have no hard-on for him, I hate the guy. You're the one who likes him.

Helm and Abdelkalder Should Be on the Same Line
GMRwings1983 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Didn't Abelkalder score two goals in the finals last year playing as a winger? The Helm line has been playing well because of him. Eaves and Draper don't do anything consistently enough to put scoring pressure on the other team. I just feel like having our two best hitters and energy guys on the same line would be really good. Besides, what Babcock wants is not exactly working right now the way that he wants, so he has to change these lines up somehow. We have too many centermen, especially when what's his face (Williams) returns, so someone will have to move to the wing anyway. -
Rick Nash isn't much of a fighter, but I like how he started whooping up on Backes last night after the spotpicker decided to pick a fight with him. Too bad the refs got in there to bail Backes out. Team USA has more to worry about than just Team Canada in the Olympics. There are a handful of teams better than the U.S. I wonder if he'll fight Sidney Crosby next?

Excellent road trip? We played poorly in LA, Anaheim and New York. We played well in Phoenix and San Jose. Two good games out of five is not excellent, especially when you have to make up points. I feel like they took a few games off in this road trip, and that's unacceptable for a team full of veterans that is trying to make a playoff push. They should thank Howard for that LA game, or else you wouldn't be using words like "excellent" to describe the road trip. This loss last night put a sting on everything else that happened.

Remember how excited we all were when Zetterberg returned to the lineup? Honestly, if Leino and him switched numbers out there, I'd never notice the difference with the way Hank has played since his return. Babcock needs to split him and Datsyuk up, because Zetterberg is ruining the chemistry that was developing with Datsyuk and Bertuzzi.

I can't think of a single guy in league history that was better at getting under people's skin than Avery is. Mind you there have been some great agitators over the years in guys like Barnaby, Linseman, Ott, Ruutu, Domi, Tiger Williams, and many others. But I've got to think that Avery is more hated by opponents and is a better agitator than anyone else I can think of.

Self righteousness is for gutless cowards as well. No reason to talk smack just because people have a different viewpoint than you. Blind homerism isn't the only viewpoint there is, you know.
-
Yeah, that's what I said earlier. None of those teams is going anywhere but up, except for LA which has lost several consecutive games. This Wings team isn't good enough to string wins together, because its so-called star players aren't good enough to put up solid efforts night after night. People are blaming it on injuries, but that's only because excuses are the best things to have for losing. No one wants to admit that our stars have sucked badly this season.
-
Considering that they played poorly in 3 of those 5 games, and got demolished in what should have been the easiest one of them all, then yes. Besides, 6 out of 10 isn't good enough right now. To make up ground on the other teams above them, this team will have to go on a tear and not have anymore games like this one.
-
We play Chicago and Washington in the next 4 games or so, so it's not going to get any easier for this team. Let's hope they play harder against those teams like they did against San Jose.

Brad Stuart let my boy Derek Meech down tonight. I still can't believe he was a -5
-
They spent this night in Rio most likely, since no one showed up. Even Helm didn't look like his usual energetic self.
-
Boring? I don't think scoring 6 goals is very boring. Their fans sure didn't sound bored after this effort. Everything else you said was right, though.
-
Geez, watching these highlights, one would think Bruno Gervais is the second coming of Paul Coffey.
-
Any word on when Williams comes back? I'm about ready for one of our forwards to be sent down. On the bright side, Lebda didn't do anything stupid out there tonight.
-
Haven't you ever seen Slapshot? Fights can bring a struggling team together through male bonding.
-
I'm beginning to think that what we really need is for one of those teams above us to got into a horrific tailspin. Maybe LA will lose 15 games in a row or something. Interview with Babcock on FSD. Oh oh, this should be good.
-
Too soon to say that. At this point, though, missing the playoffs is more than a possibility. FSD is already talking about injuries being a huge problem. Apparently, everyone on the top line must be injured along with Rafalski and Lidstrom. No more excuses need to be made. The leaders on this team need to lead by example every game. Until then, we'll continue to have games like this and these shutouts which are getting a little old.

The Islander announcers aren't as much homers as they are shellshocked. They haven't had anything to cheer for since 1993. It's sad that we made them looks so good.
-
Has there been a worse game this season?
-
Are you streaming tonight's game, drum?
-
I can't imagine how much s*** those Wings fans at the game are getting right now from those obnoxious Islander fans.
-
Then you disagree?
