We Should Have Gooned it Up These Last Two Games

Yeah, it sucks that he's not around. He would have destroyed either Sharp or Kopecky. -
Roy or Tretiak Roy won the Conn Smythe in 3 different decades. That's pretty damn special right there. Also, the first half of his career was played in the most offensive era in hockey history. Unlike Brodeur who was born into "the trap". Too bad Tretiak didn't play in the NHL, or else he'd easily be considered here. I can see myself changing in the future and throwing Hasek in there as well.

Have I ever made one good argument on LGW as far as you're concerned? Something tells me you're a little biased against the OP. As long as fighting is legal in hockey, there's nothing unrespectable about challenging other teams to a fight. It's part of the game. -

Beats me. Ask Babcock. Anyway, I'm off for the night. You guys can feel free to do whatever you want with this thread. -

No, I think it spawned more bad blood between the teams, which does make players play harder against a team that they hate. None of our players tonight played like they hate the Blackhawks, who are right now the best team in the division. We needed to send this division leader a message and failed to do so. -

The brawl fired this team up to win that game and the playoff series. It doesn't matter what period it happened in. Fights can definitely bring a team together and create more passion for the next time you play a rival. -
The Positivity of all the injuries *right now*

I agree. People sound like we're going to flip on some switch once the injured players return. It's not that easy. Especially with everyone else getting points and the Olympic break in there to muddle things up some more. Also, it takes a while for injured players to gain their game back and whatever chemistry is lacking. -

Our lineup right now is pathetic. We didn't have anything to lose from trying to start s***. The Hawks know we're not desperate but are just injured. -

No, both teams have stated that it was a big factor in the Wings beating Colorado in the playoffs. They could have just rolled over that night, and it may have changed the Wings dynasty. I'm not saying that fighting a divisional rival automatically gives you the Stanley Cup, but it does counter the argument that a brawl tonight couldnt' have possibly affected the next game against them. -

Like I said above, look at the Fight Night From the Joe game against Colorado in 1997. How did that help us the next time we played them? Well according to the players on both sides, it helped a lot. -

They have the personnel for it these last few games. -

Does anyone here remember the Fight Night at the Joe back in 1997? That's what rivalries are all about. Not rolling over like a dog and sticking your tongue out, which is what the Wings did. Divelanche players say that the WIngs won the Cup that night. That's my answer to the posters who wonder how this will help us against Chicago next time we play them. -

Confession time, guys. Me and Miller Brew are actually the same poster. He's my positive alter ego spawned from years of negativity. -
Maybe Lidstrom needs some new contact lenses. His aim is definitely horrible right now. Hall Gill is shooting the puck better than Lidstrom this season.

So shoves after whisltes and challenging players to fights is goonery? How long have you been watching hockey? You guys make it sound like I suggested we arm our players with knives and send them out there to do some stabbing. -

I felt this way about a month ago, before 4 or 5 more players got injured. Experience is one thing, but this is just injury overkill here. -

What euros? I'm talking about sending May, Janik and Newbury to fight. Those guys getting injured is hardly a huge blow to the team. All our top players are already injured with a few exceptions. -

Good to see you're still my biggest fan around here and are not biased just because of the source. You obviously didn't read anything I posted throughout this thread, so I'm not even going to bother with you. BTW, a lot of posters here seem to agree with me so it's not just senseless stupidity. But I guess to you if it's not Crymson's argument, then it must be senseless and stupid. Typical. -

Yeah, tell that to all the other teams. As for the first part of your post, both games were already out of hand late in the 3rd. I'm not saying we should have jumped them from the opening whistle, but late in the games we should have. -
Like I said earlier, if Pavel, Hank and Lidstrom were having the kind of season they usually have, we'd have one of the best records in the West right now even with the injuries. These guys have shown me that they're not superstar players and can't carry a team when the team needs them. They're all-star players, but not superstars in the same league as Ovechkin, Crosby or Iginla.
-
Maybe we can convert Homer into a Finn, and then we can have a whole line of them. Seriously, if Leino only plays well when he's with Flip, then he isn't much of an NHL player.
-
I imagine that there's many hockey fans around the league who would like to see Byfuglien get the "Steve Moore" treatment. Or at least they wouldn't mind if it happened.
-
Like I said earlier, a long Christmas Eve skate could be the message that these players need for this effort. Just make Datsyuk, Leino, Bertuzzi, Lidstrom and Rafalski take that skate. You can't blame these other players for sucking.
-
Yet you know they'll choose Meech and Lebda over him once we get Kronwall and Rafalski back.
