I wasn't speaking about dirty hits as much as clean hits which send messages and start fights. Once again, I criticize lots of players for this current play. Read through this thread and you'll see me mention Lidstrom's name more than anybody's. It just so happens that the Leino jokes are funnier.

He was better in NJ, but more important in Anaheim, being the Captain and all. I still think his Conn Smythe might be the worst in league history. The guy scored something like 11 points in 21 games during that Cup run.

Oh and Ritola has nothing to do with it. I'm talking about both games, including the last game where Newbury was playing. We didn't do anything that game either when it was already out of hand.

If they had 9 regulars out of the lineup, they'd try to kick our asses on every shift.

Exactly. We've been bullied around for years in this same scenario, and now we have the perfect chance to hit back and yet we do nothing about it. We send May out there to have staged fights with Barch, but we don't send him out there in these situations. Pretty sad.

Leino isn't the only guy I rag on. Seriously, why would you even post that obvious falsity. How would it have hurt our playoff hopes? It'd wake this team up for one thing and they'd play with some heart and determination in the next game. What did we tell the Hawks these last two games. That we're not only bad with this roster, but we won't even play physical with it and will avoid any confrontations. Just blow us out and skate away smiling. Let Buffligien or whatever his name is do whatever he wants out there. In the past, I'd just complain that we don't have the personnel to play this way, but this time it's different. We had the right players but we just didn't utilize them properly.

It's not about injuring players (that's more of a dream than reality), but it is about telling the Hawks that we won't go away quietly and that we'll be ready for them when we're a healthier team. A scrum can be a good way to bring a team together. Remember Slapshot?

He was awesome in tonight's game. Knocking guys off the puck, creating scoring chances and backchekcing like a madman I want to take back everything I said about him earlier in this thread.

It's not about soft euros Last game, we had May, Janik and Newbury in the lineup. That's as tough as we've been in years, yet we still went out there and looked lifeless. Last I checked, hockey is a physical sport and fighting and sending messages (as long as it isn't too cheap) is allowed. We let this Chicago team skate around us, and didn't make them pay any physical price for it afterwards.
