Great thread. Dallas has a bunch of soft euros on their team, so it's time for our North American boys to start running those pansies left and right.

Khabibulin Nabokov Bryzgalov My money is on Bryzgalov. I know he doesn't have the playoff or Olympic experience that the other two guys have, but right now he's playing lights out hockey and is carrying the Coyotes on his back. I think they should go with the hot hand and name him the starter.

J/K. I knew that was you all along, but like you know, I can never resist a good opportunity for a spontaneous joke.

Which Goalie Should Start for Russia in the Olympics?
GMRwings1983 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I don't know about that. Politics wise, Khabibulin is more likely to get the nod, since the Russian Olympic Committee has discriminated against Nabokov in the past because he once played for Kazakhstan. -
Cool hat you're wearing in that photo. Who's the nerd sitting next to you, though?

Are you guys serious about having a rookie unproven goalie who is prone to soft goals starting over those other guys I mentioned? I doubt Fetisov and Bure would agree with you guys on Varlamov starting. He's got a good future, but he's far from the best choice they can make. -

He isn't as good as any of those guys and has even less experience than Bryzgalov. That's why I didn't include him. Last time he played in a pressure game, he got tagged by the Pens in that game 7. I don't think a guy who gives up soft goals in a big game is a guy they want starting for them. -
Hard to believe those are "The Professor's" daughters. Wasn't one of them rumored to be dating Ovechkin or something?

Wings on pace for 105 points with a $33 million roster...

Howard and Ozzie have to be our best players from now on every night. They have to stand on their freaking heads like we've never seen before from a Wings goalie. -
Lidstrom. Game, set, match. At this point, it is becoming like a dark comedy of sorts, where the characters are killed off one by one in some macabre way.
-
No problem. Any time.
-
No. Like I said, those players are more willing to go to the scoring areas. Anyone who watches or plays hockey should know that. Leino should know it too. He's just too lazy or scared to do so.
-
I like your thinking. We need the Hanson Brothers for this game. No need to give the Hawks a chance to light us up on the scoreboard with all these injuries.
-
Not really. Offense includes hard work, and he isn't working hard enough. That's why those guys are scoring. They're going to the net, which is where the goals are to be had. Leino is afraid to go to the net, hence he doesn't score goals.

We need to goon it up against Chicago, to send them a message for later in the season when we're healthy. Here's what I propose: Put May/Newbury/Bertuzzi on the same line, and play them frequently with Doug Janik. Then have that line run everything that moves and start scrums at the end of whistles. That's what teams like the Hawks have tried to do to us in the past when they were overmatched.
-
I don't see how we're going to make the playoffs with all these injuries occuring every game and the injuries being long term. Especially with this whole overtime loss and shootout loss points system. Our chances of missing the playoffs are going up every week. Now we have to play Chicago no less.
-
I wonder what Leino would do during that brawl?
-
We can always trade Lebda for some Scooby Snacks.
-
Doesn't matter. May should still beat his ass. He's no friend of ours anymore.
-
Or you can go root for the Pens. God actually likes their team, for some reason.
-
Zetteberg will play in the 3rd, and will jump Ohlund and beat the s*** out of him on his first shift.
-
Why don't we ever hurt our opponents? It's always our guys that get hurt every game.
-
It's working for me now.
-
I can't get the justintv stream to work for some reason. Anyone else having similar problems with the link.

You could actually say that for everything in life. In any case, I think nowadays McCarty would receive a very heavy suspension, where the league was more lenient back in those days. Overall, there's been some really terrible incidents in NHL history which were just as bad as Bertuzzi's, but not as remembered.
