    Brad May vs. Aaron Downey

I didn't know they were ever on the same line. Who played center? I think we should sign Floyd Mayweather.

    Brad May vs. Aaron Downey

Actually, Downey gave us more offense last year than what May is giving this year. Also, Downey was a better fighter at this point in his career, and would likely have more fights than what May currently has. I wish both guys could have stayed here, especially with these injuries. Can you imagine Downey and May in the lineup at the same time?

Ericsson out with "deep bone & muscle bruise"

I feel like May should still beat Doan's ass the next time we play them. Obviously Doan is afraid of a beating from May or Lilja, which is why he's reaching out to apologize.

    Man games lost?

I hate to give them props again, but look at the Blues last year. They lost more man games than anyone I ever heard of, and still made the playoffs with a roster full of minor leaguers. In fact, they didn't just make the playoffs, but had the best record in the league the second half of the season. No way the Wings B-team is worse than the Blues, right?

Filppula, Kronwall & Franzen skate at practice

My theory is that if you can skate, you can play. I expect them all in the lineup tomorrow night.
  6. That's what I said about: Edmonton in 2006 Calgary in 2004 Anaheim in 2003 LA in 2001.
  7. With the injuries and bad luck we've had this season, plus the fact that after the Olympic break, we'll be playing for our playoff lives down to the last minute, I don't think we should allow any players to play in the Olympics. No reason to risk more injuries. Might as well give the team rest and to regroup for the final push. This will give us a huge advantage over other teams who will send players to the Olympics. Imagine a Wings team that's been rested for two weeks. I realize these guys want to play for their countries, and normally I'd love to see them in the Olympics, but this season is different. Also, don't forget that guys like Kronwall, Flip and Franzen will be returning from injuries and in the Olympics, they'll have to play a very condensed schedule with many games in few nights. Also, after the last Olympics, the Wings gave our Swedes a couple of nights off to rest from their Olympic run. Imagine if team Sweden makes another deep push. Can we afford to give players nights off again when we're battling for playoff spots? I wasn't sure, however, if this was an option that the team could pursue, or whether it's up to the players themselves? As far as I know, Holland has the power to do this.

    They didn't fight last game.

    Brett Hull - HOF Night

Remember when his jersey was retired by the Blues, and they played the Wings that night?

    may

Yeah, he was on a great pace earlier in the season, but at his age, I don't think he's capable of fighting all the time. If say Downey was here and playing every game because of the injuries to others, he'd have a lot more fights. The opportunities for fights have certainly been there.

Ericsson out with "deep bone & muscle bruise"

This is the toughest Wing team since the late 90's. May, Janik, Bertuzzi, Newbury. Too bad Lilja isn't around, or else we'd be a full blown goon squad.

Someone needs to find the Red Wing Voodoo doll

It's just bad luck plus a combination of fragile players who get injured easily. Look on the bright side, though. Last year the Blues made the playoffs despite having a lineup full of nobodies. We can do the same thing, even with these current injuries. The key is that our top stars remain healthy. Even though they're not scoring right now, if one of those guys goes down, so do the Wings.

Should the Wings Allow Players to Play in the Olympics?

Yeah, but those are our best players. Those guys play enough minutes as it is. I wouldn't mind seeing them rest. Nice Hudler plug, BTW. You do realize that he's no longer on the team? I could care less if team Czech Republic plays him 40 minutes a game.

    Red Wings Archived Games Index

Thanks a lot drum. I actually watched the last game through archives, after going to a party early that Saturday night. If not for you, I'd have done either one or the other, but not both.

12/14 GDT: Coyotes 2 at Red Wings 3

Ericsson has had 2 previous leg injuries this year that looked very serious, and where he was helped off the ice. What makes you guys think this one is any worse than those? Or is the 3rd time the charm, as they say?

We should hire a "witch doctor". I'm sick of this s*** already. They need someone to exorcise the room or something.

Who Was the Last Wing to Score Back to Back OT Goals?

No. My definition was two straight games going into OT, and the same player scoring in both OT's. Kind of like what Bertuzzi did. Thanks for the info. The more I thought about this, I couldn't think of any NHL player who had done it, but it's good to see that it has been done, as recently as last season no less.
  18. I can't remember who was the last Wing to score back to back OT goals. Will someone with better memory than me (or better computer search skills) please refresh my memory.

Should the Wings Allow Players to Play in the Olympics?

He missed most of the 2003 season, though, and wasn't the same player when he came back. In that regard, he did hurt the team somewhat in the long run.

FIRE THE TEAM DOCTORS, KENNY!!!!! Seriously, The Marx Brothers could do a better job as team doctors, than what we currently have now.
  21. GMRwings1983

Should the Wings Allow Players to Play in the Olympics?

Yeah, but other teams haven't had the problems with injuries that we've had. Besides, if we don't send our guys, we could have an advantage over those other teams, like I said in my OP.

    Stuart for Team Canada

Really? Why? Olympic hockey is more wide open and exciting than NHL games are right now. Don't know why they'd change it.

Who Was the Last Wing to Score Back to Back OT Goals?

Thanks for looking it up. I guess that rules out the possibility of Franzen doing it.

Who Was the Last Wing to Score Back to Back OT Goals?

I guess my earning for knowledge turned into a trivia thread which no one can answer.

Should the Wings Allow Players to Play in the Olympics?

What does that have anything to do with the Olympics? The NHL doesn't run the Olympic games like it does the All Star Game.
