    Ustream viewing meets Android-based devices

At the risk of sounding stupid and technologically anachronistic, what does this mean for hockey viewing? As far as I know, an android is a robot that looks human. Like the Terminator.

Franzen to try & rush back for Olympics

Same thing as Yzerman in 2002. The next season, Yzerman missed most of the year recovering from that knee surgery. Look, I'd love to see Franzen in the Olympics, but team Sweden isn't the one signing his paycheck.

    Thoughts on Eric Lindros

For a guy that never scored more than 30 goals in a season, everyone seems to overrate Forsberg. Lindros was more of an all-around offensive powerhouse and not just a passing threat. Forsberg played with more talent around him than Lindros did. And one of the Cups he won involved him missing most of the playoffs, so to me he won one Cup. Lindros was also on the Canada Cup team in 1991 not just the 2002 Olympic gold medal which you nicely discounted. Forsberg was a great playoff player, but still the 3rd best playoff performer on his team. Roy carried them to several Cups and Sakic was a machine in 1996 as well as Mr. Clutch late in games and in overtimes. Also, Sakic was their unquestioned leader in the locker room and one of the greatest captains ever. It doesn't hurt to have defensemen like Bourque, Foote, Blake and Ozolinsh on your team either. Lindros, meanwhile had Eric Desjardins and a very old Paul Coffey. The only reason most people will rank him higher than Lindros is that Forsberg spent almost his entire career playing with the best goalie ever, while Lindros didn't. Hence the Stanley Cups and the higher all-time rating. I don't think Forsberg would have carried the Flyers to a Cup if you switch him with Lindros.

11/25 GDT: Thrashers 2 at Red Wings 0

Datsyuk has scared me ever since the playoffs began last year. The entire regular season he was a scoring machine last year, and then as the playoffs started, he's become inconsistent and often unrecognizable since.

T.J. Hensick Waived by the Avs

If they gave up on him so quickly, there must be something about him we don't know.

    Thoughts on Eric Lindros

I never said anything about what should have been. I think he should be in the Hall of Fame for what he's already done. I hate to use Neely again as a comparison, but when the league voted him in, they opened the door for these things. Your description of Lindros was exactly what Neely accomplished, minus the individual awards and best player in the world status. Forsberg was a better set up man than Lindros, but Lindros was a more dangerous all around offensive force. Also, he was a lot more physical and scary to play against. Furthermore, Forsberg never had to carry a team like Lindros did. The Flyers had some other good players, but he was by far the best. I don't think Forsberg at his best was better than Lindros at his best, but I'm sure many will disagree.

    19 goals in 3 then 5 in 5?

I'm calling out all our superstars. They can't afford to be off the scoresheet even for several games, because there's no one else who can score right now. This is exactly the time when star players have to step up and carry the team night in and night out. Zetterberg has been better than Lidstrom, Datsyuk or Rafalski, so I'll give you that. But I'm still disappointed by the superstar players as a whole, especially in the leadership department. This team looks dead and unmotivated on too many nights. Even with all these injuries, there should still be enough on this roster not to lose to a team like Atlanta at home. Or even to Nasvhille.

    19 goals in 3 then 5 in 5?

I'm really disappointed in Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom. I know that even star players need help around them, but it'd sure be good to see them be more consistent offensively and to carry us through some of these games. Instead, Lidstrom has had a bad year offensively and Pavel and Hank go on stretches where they disappear on the scoresheet entirely. Before we start blaming Cleary, Bertuzzi, Homer and whoever else has been stinking it up lately, we have to point the finger at those guys first and foremost. They're the star players and they need to play like it every game with these injuries.

Shoe on the other foot article

But that's why people are panicking. The injuries are piling up, they're all long term injuries, and how do we know who's next? So far our top 3 players have been untouched by injuries, but what if something happens to them? I still think this team has some danger of missing the playoffs, unless we stop having injuries and the guys already injured come back soon. Otherwise, it'll be a dogfight to get in.

    Kronwall deserved it?

How would that be any better for the Wings? Also, Laraque would then be breaking the enforcers code by picking on a guy that's not a fighter.

    Kronwall deserved it?

Have you ever heard of the instigator rule? That's why players don't have to answer for their hits anymore. Oh and I doubt Kronwall would have squared off against Laraque. Just for the record, I do think some of Kronwall's hits in the past have been slightly dirty, although I don't want to see him get hit dirty in retaliation, especially by some idiot who he's never had anything to do with in the past.

Pascal Leclaire latest to be injured

Bettman is on it right away.

    Betuzzi -

There may be some truth in this, but there's a difference between laying bodychecks on people and doing what Bertuzzi did to Moore. I think the fact that he's been injured in recent years has more to do with his passive physical presence, rather than the Moore incident.

Wasn't there a thread about this not too long ago where Lidstrom was voted ahead of Brodeur?

What is the problem with Detroit's Penalty Kill?

Here's a list that I've made before They can't win defensive faceoffs They can't prevent entry into the zone They can't clear pucks They can't block shooting lanes They can't cover the point They can't clear the front of the crease They can't make saves They use too many forwards to kill penalties I hope that paints a pretty good picture for why we suck on the PK.

Babcock not happy with top line

We could put Draper and Shanahan on the same line as him. But no way Mike Babcock would be stupid enough to do something like that.

FLyers' Briere suspended for 2 games

I guess playing for a tough team has unpussified him. I bet Hudler would be the same way if he went to Philly. Never thought I'd see Briere laying cheapshots on people.

    USA Olympic Squad

With the way the injuries are piling up in the NHL, none of these rosters are going to look the way we expect them too now. Also, some players will likely sit out even if they're not injured. It has happened before. The Olympics would be a lot more fun if each country was represented by its most healthy and skilled players, but that's never really the case. For instance, I doubt Franzen will play for Sweden come Olympic time. That's why I think the World Cup is the best event in terms of quality, although not as important on the international stage.

Could the injuries cause Detroit to miss the playoffs?

That'd be funny if we finish 8th and wind up playing San Jose in the first round, with all our injured players being healed and ready to go. They'd s*** their pants in San Jose, especially after what happened last year having to face that Anaheim team in the first round.

11/23 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Predators 3

Of course. If it didn't work out the first time, there was no reason to do it again. Especially since he's a lot worse now than he was in 2007. Back then, there was still some hope of seeing the old Todd Bertuzzi.
  22. GMRwings1983

Babcock not happy with top line

There's nothing fun about missing the playoffs.
  23. GMRwings1983

    Brad Lebda?

They also kept talking about Todd Bertuzzi's former success as a Vancouver Canuck. Clearly, they confused him with the Todd Bertuzzi who played in Vancouver early this decade, and put up 90+ points once, and also put Steve Moore in the hospital with his aggressive play. You'd think the VS idiots would know better not to confuse those two players just because they have the same name.

Todd Bertuzzi is the worst acquisition the Wings have made since............well, since Todd Bertuzzi.

    Laraque suspended 5 games

If that were the rule, Todd Bertuzzi wouldn't be playing for us right now.
