    Aaron Downey Cut by Coyotes

He did some good things in the minors last year, so maybe GR can re-sign him.

    2010-11 Defense

Trade Stuart. He should be easy to move.

    Aaron Downey Cut by Coyotes

Kenny needs to sign this guy. We've gone to the Finals two straight seasons with Downey on the roster.

    Top 20 players

Stats wise he is, but this is the era of great stats and great goaltending. All I know is that he hasn't done s*** since their Hall of Fame defensemen left their team. He's just a guy that puts up great regular seasons, but who doesn't at this point? His playoffs the last few years have been less than stellar. Great goalie, but overrated.

    Frolov

Maltby and Homer might retire after the season. Meech doesn't have much trade value. Frolov would be great here, but I don't see it happening.

I know Luongo doesn't have much of a playoff career, but Brodeur in the last few playoffs has been terrible. To me, he's a product of a team that had great defensemen for many years, and played a defensive style of trapping hockey. Ever since they've gone away from that style, and ever since Rafalski, Stevens and Nidermayer left, Brodeur has been subpar in the playoffs. Also, they did fine last year without him as a team. Basically, I'm saying that he's overrated.

Former NHL'er Yuri Butsayev faces rape allegations

Don't know what the law is in Russia, but I doubt they go that far in punishing these things.

Former NHL'er Yuri Butsayev faces rape allegations

That's sad. He was one of my favorite players in Wings history. Along with Ladislav Kohn.

    Rougher Conference?East or West?

Just because of the Wings, the East is a tougher conference. We tilt the balance to the other conference in terms of toughness, all by ourselves. I mean, some of our fans think Jiri Hudler is tough. What more needs to be said?

It's too easy baiting him, isn't it? You made the poor guy type out a half page post for nothing.

    Kessel traded to Leafs

Burke has easily surpassed Holland as the greatest GM in the NHL.

    Isles vs Flames

I'd love to see a decent middleweight on the Wings also, now that Kopecky has left. Never heard of Riechlicz. I guess I'm not well versed in minor league fighters, except when Scott Parker was playing in the minors, when he was touted as the next Bob Probert.

    Isles vs Flames

Or they can bring back Gillies and Nystrom for extra toughness. And what do you mean Reich will be up full time. He's just a fighter. Didn't you hear that teams don't ever play fighters full-time in today's NHL, unless those guys are also great skaters and can score 20 goals? The league has changed, man.
  15. GMRwings1983

    Isles vs Flames

Reich is just a decent middleweight. The Islanders need a heavy on their team. They always let them go too easily. First Cairns, then Godard and last year Fritz.

    Isles vs Flames

Phaneuf has been afraid to fight ever since Lilja fell on top of him. I'll never forget the fear in poor Dion's face during that infamous square off. Also, he's dating some hot actress and is probably afraid of having his face bruised and battered.

    Isles vs Flames

The Islanders need a guy like Lilja, who can stand up for teammates who just got hit by Phaneuf.

Didn't "The Rock" always remove his elbow pad right before he did his finishing move?

    Afinogenov?

This thread comes up every month now and it's still the same answer. We don't need a lazy, unmotivated europuss who looks like a donkey. There's a reason Lindy Ruff treated this lazy ass like s*** for the last several seasons. He's got some speed and stickhandling skills, but the rest is crap, as is his confidence.

    Dish Network=good network?

I love hockey, but screw Versus, DirecTV and the NHL. None of them give a s*** about hockey or the fans as much as making money for themselves. The fans are the real people getting screwed here, and not any of these corporations. I don't give a damn whose fault it is, it's just a finger pointing contest. Kind of like when Republicans and Democrats try to blame each other for the country's problems.

    Boogaard and Datsyuk?

Who thinks this will turn into an enforcer thread? I do. The way I look at it, Datsyuk clearly wants Boogaard to join this team, which is why he invited him to camp. Why else would he invite a guy he didn't even know who he has nothing in common with? Datsyuk understands the need that this team has for a tough guy in the lineup, so what does he do about it? He invites the best enforcer in the league to his camp. Marvelous. There's more to this invitation than meets the eye folks. Boogaard will wear that number 24 in Detroit soon, much like Probert did decades earlier.

    Boogaard and Datsyuk?

Pavel should have convinced Holland to trade for him. Boogaard wearing a Wings jersey. I wonder how that would look?

Tatar guns for spot with Griffins

Steak "tartare" is more like it. I've never had it, though, so I can't speak as to its taste.

So are you saying that Lecavalier and St. Louis are 3rd tier players because of one so-so season where they still put up good numbers? I mean 2 years ago, Lecavalier was a Hart candidate and led the league in goals. I don't think he's dropped off the face of the earth that quickly.

Perry and Ryan are both good forwards, and Getzlaf wouldn't be the same without those 2 players. You can't discount those players so easily. He makes that line go, but they're not just supporting actors by any means. Also, Pronger was still an offensive force, especially on the PP with that rocket shot. Also, Calgary's defense is terrible offensively, other than Phaneuf, who didn't have a great year. I just don't see Getzlaf as having any huge advantages over Iginla, except youth and passing ability. In every other area, I'd take Iginla.
