I'm saying that being a two-way player doesn't mean that a guy is better than someone else. Otherwise, Crosby and Malkin and Oveckin shouldn't even be in the top 10 on anyone's list. I look at it from the standpoint of who is a more dominant force on the ice. To me Crosby is better offensively, and earlier in this thread some poster showed the stats to prove so, so I won't repeat them again. Yeah, Datsyuk has a Selke, but then I could say that Crosby has a Hart, or Malkin has an Art Ross trophy. How many of those trophies has Pavel won. Crosby is also a captain of his team and a better playoff performer. He didn't score much in the Finals, but neither did anyone on the Wings in the last few games. Likewise, Crosby is better in front of the net, and because of that doesn't go through the types of scoring droughts that Pavel had last year in the playoffs. Basically, there's plenty of arguments for why Crosby is better and there are some for why Pavel is better. I take the earlier route. Instead of agreeing to disagree, you end up looking like some 4th grader who can't handle being disagreed with, so you come on here trolling and trying to start s***. What have you had to say other than the F word and that Pavel has won 2 Selkes and Crosby hasn't?

10 or 20 years from now, no one will care or remember that fact. It'll go down in history as a loss. Technically, the Wings have been better on paper than all their opponents since the mid 90's. I understand your point, but in a way that's what makes it even more frustrating that we lost.

That's probably true, but why does this make people feel good? We still lost. I could make the same excuse for 2007. So should I feel great because we've already won 3 Cups in a row and are now going for 4 based on that? The fact that we could have won if healthy doesn't make me feel any better. It just makes it that much more disappointing that we lost. It'd be better if we had just gotten swept and never had a chance. Then it wouldn't feel like we got so close and yet so far.

None. Franzen will become a full time enforcer, and will beat the s*** out of anyone who messes with our team. He'll have 378 PIM's. Unfortunately, in the process, his offensive game takes a tremendous hit as his skills miraculously vanish, and he'll wind up scoring around 10 points all year in 82 games.

Does getting jumped and destroyed (kind of like Franzen against Walker and Datsyuk against Niedermayer) count as a fight? If so, the whole team will have 7 or 8 fighting majors. If not, it'll be about 2 or 3.

That first line was awful in the playoffs. WTF was Babcock thinking putting Draper on that line? They had no chemistry nor should they have with that mix of players. Pavel and Shanny never mixed in well together. Hank was a beast in that series, however, as was Yzerman. I also remember thinking how useless Franzen and Cleary were. Glad they turned into something better for us by the time the 2007 playoffs rolled around.

Because we haven't seen those kind of nuts in a long time in Detroit. People always want what they haven't had for a long time. We haven't had a full time enforcer for a long time, and we see other teams having one, so we want one too for entertainment value. It's really not that hard to figure out why we like Downey. Nobody ever said that he was a great skater or playmaker. That's just anti-Downey people making dumb arguments that no one is refuting.

What makes anyone think they'll care? Versus doesn't have enough viewers for their complaints to mean anything.

I take the numbers as they are right now. Right now Crosby is better offensively than Datsyuk is. Stop making excuses for that. I feel secure saying that Crosby is a better player than Datsyuk, even if Pavel is better as a two-way player. I've already explained why being a two-way player isn't the definitive way to judge this. Most people seem to agree, since Ovechkin was picked first, and he isn't even close to being a two-way player. If you want to judge two-way play as the most important factor, than that's your interpretation, but not mine. Many people agree with me on this, while some will agree with you. No reason getting paranoid over it. Crosby played better in the playoffs last year than Datsyuk did. Just because he's a whiner doesn't mean he should get discounted as a player. You've let your personal feelings get in the way here, as I can see from reading your description of Crosby's personality.

I wouldn't say he's much more clutch, but Hank has been great in the playoffs lately. However, Hank had a s***ty season last year offensively, so I can't say that he's better than Crosby. Yeah, he's better defensively, but I don't want to beat that dead horse argument again. Most people here aren't voting for Zetterberg yet, so even the Wings homers aren't putting him ahead of Crosby. Also, how is Hank better defensively than Crosby is offensively? I know Crosby hasn't been great in the Finals the last 2 years, but a lot of the credit has to go to Lidstrom and the Wings system in general.

Well, at least it's not red and white. The Canes logo is stupid, though, but I guess you can't blame them because of the team name. Also, you guys will think I'm crazy, but I wish the Canucks would bring back the "V" jersey for just a few games. Why the hell not? They were so bad that they were actually good. Kind of like the film "Battlefield Earth". Oh, and I also agree with NFM that the stick logo is stupid. Also, they should move back to the Pacific Coliseum. That place was like a dungeon. O.K. now I'm getting real picky and showing off my old school nature. I'll stop for awhile.

I love those jerseys. Many teams should go back to their roots. Now, hopefully the Carolina Hurricanes will wear the Whalers jersey as their 3rd jersey. Hell, I'm actually going to complain that the Flames don't make those old jerseys their main jerseys and make this current crap their 3rd jersey, instead of having it vice versa
