Williams > Prospal/Pyatt Supposedly.
-
I haven't seen it either. I turned off the TV after the handshakes, and avoided all sports networks for the next month. Really? I haven't seen anything about the Pens on any channels, including espn. I'm guessing the NHL network probably keeps showing it, but I don't watch that channel in the summer.

Cindy Crosby. Datsyuk decided to take the playoffs off, even before his injury, so he doesn't get my vote for that inconsistency. He's a better two-way forward, but Crosby is the captain of that team and is more of an offensive force. Also, he plays way better in the clutch, which no one here seems to care about.
-
Only Downey could generate such great discussion on this site. Sign him, Kenny!! That is, if he hasn't been signed already by Phoenix.
-
So what? Crosby is more of a force than Datsyuk is offensively, so they're not that close there as the above poster pointed out with some hard stats. As far as defense, like I've said, being a two-way player isn't everything. Flip and Franzen are more likely to be Selke nominees than Crosby is. Also, Crosby is still young, and at his age, Datsyuk wasn't nominated for any Selke's. Hell, I dont' think he was even in the league yet. Ask most people around the league, and I guarantee you Crosby will be ranked ahead of Pavel by a landslide. How can you argue that there is no bias here on LGW?
-
Great post, but this is a Wings board so what do you expect? I think Crosby is far better also, and the stats prove it, but because of who he is it's hard for most people here to admit it. He's a little, whiny *****, but he's still better than Pavel is.
-
Who do you think was better defensively? Datsyuk, Gretzky or Lemieux? Now how would you rank those 3 players? As I've said earlier in this thread, if someone is a better 2 way player, that doesn't mean that they're a better player.
-
Carcillo is a better player, but he's not an enforcer, thus you're comparing two players with completely different roles. It's like saying that Iginla is better than Downey too. Also, what is this incident with Seabrook that you're referring to?
-
I just hope he doesn't suck in the playoffs again. The regular season is somewhat important, but if you're going to score 1 goal the entire playoffs, then I could care less if he scores 117 points.
-
Downey would destroy Carcillo. How many heavies has Carcillo fought against? I just can't believe the Coyotes would sign him. Don't they know that in the "new NHL", there's no place for a guy like Downey? All he did in Detroit was take lots of stupid penalties and was a constant defensive liability. He was also dirty in Grand Rapids.

Hell yes. I still think about the game every day wishing for a different outcome and still feel embarassed about losing on our home ice like that. We could be going for 3 Cups in a row right now, which would be very special. I'm also getting depressed about possibly not being able to watch hockey at all next year with this DirecTV business.

I don't think the Caps want to see Ovechkin playing defense, because he expends so much energy on the offensive side of the ice already. While I do think Datsyuk is a more complete player, that doesn't mean that he's better. Hell, Flip is a more complete 2 way player than Ovechkin. That doesn't mean he's better. It's a good assessment of a player's greatness, but shouldn't be the biggest factor to judge by any means. Who was a better two-way player, Datsyuk or Gretzky?
-
Don't you mean 2005?
-
I think it's the one about Chris Chelios needing to fall on the puck in order to preserve our lead or maybe the one about him needing to break sticks on purpose in order to create barriers on the ice. Just look him up and read some of those legendary posts. I miss that darned guy.

Since it's your birthday, that's probably the liquor distorting your vision. The jerseys just plain suck. Or they're just plain, period. BTW, what are you doing making posts this late in the evening on your B-Day? You live in New Orleans for crying out loud. Don't tell me there isn't enough to do in that town.
-
Bad example. Roenick and Nolan were both more known for fighting than Lidstrom, especially Nolan. Also, Roenick was a s***-talker, so he probably had it coming. But in any case, Probert broke the code on many occasions as well, I'm just saying what Tinordi did was cheap and I think he's a ***** for it.
-
Who? I've never heard of this player. I don't think the OP should tally this particular choice.
-
How can anyone compare him to someone else. Just look at that picture.
-
I miss sirdrake. His debut post is still the greatest post I've ever seen here on LGW.

I don't remember Rodman ever making an All-Star team, let alone over and over again. The most important thing is that Rodman was a distraction to his team and always acted like a clown. Mac had some personal problems, but was always a team guy and not a distraction to the team. Rodman was a mascot and a clown, albeit one who could rebound.
-
This list will be biased towards Wings players since this is a Wings board. So let me begin by voting Lidstrom number 1. Didn't have his best season, but he's still a machine out there and can do anything on either side of the ice. He's still the most complete player in the league. BTW, this list will take forever to compile if we vote on each player separately. Also, I'll keep voting the same guy, and I assume everyone else will, until that person is picked. For instance, if Lidstrom isn't picked as number 1, then I'll vote for him again over and over until he is.
-
They needed to bring back the North Stars color scheme. That would have been sweet.
-
If I'm not mistaken, that was in the late 90's, when Lidstrom was already a star player. He wasn't a legend yet, but Tinordi still went after a star player, which is not something most tough guys do in brawls, unless provoked severely.

How about a logo of some drunken girls in bikinis spraying booze on each other? That's pretty Wild. Seriously, though, they should have used some mythical being like a werewolf or something. Instead they just borrowed the Timberwolves logo to use for the Wild. Now they just decided not to have one at all.
