How come they don't want Maltby back? Him and Draper could shut down any of the other countries' top lines just like they have before.
-
He would be first in points, had he not left this past year. I would rank Jagr as a better player this decade than Thornton, because Jagr is more of an all-around offensive threat. Also, Thornton has that playoff choker label.
-
I didn't know you had such a flare for humor, mindfly.
-
Hopefully for their sake they learned their lesson from the last Olympics, namely that speed wins in the Olympics. With that said, the 2002 team didn't have much speed, but since then the other nations have gotten significantly stronger.

This list sucks. How can "Rocket" Richard be behind Jean Beliveau? Also, where the hell is Mark Messier?
-
I think he would have come to Detroit if Holland had put a similar offer on the table.
-
That would only happen if the salary cap disappears.
-
Would it be unfair to blame Bettman for the KHL's success in stealing players?
-
Actually, there's several enforcers playing in the KHL nowadays, so apparently they like the money too.
-
I hate excuses, so I'm not going to make them for the Wings like people here were doing in 2007. The Wings played hard in the 3rd period of games 6 and 7. If they came out playing hard in those games and laid it all on the line, they would have won despite the injuries, like they did in the other games of the series. Fact is, the Pens just wanted it more than the Wings when it was all said and done with. If we got swept in this series it'd be a different story, but the way the series went, it was one the Wings should have won despite injury troubles.
-
What happens when Sweden and the Czech Republic or Slovakia start stealing players the same way? No Euros in hockey anymore, possibly? That would be good for the lower lines, but bad for the skilled players and for hockey in general. I hope the KHL goes bankrupt somehow.
-
Nobody is saying that. People are just looking at the long run, and how hard it is to wear other teams down without having checkers on the 3rd or 4th lines. Helm is our only real checking forward out of the bottom 6 forwards. That's not good enough.

Kane will probably be better than any of those players, and he's younger. I didn't say the league will market any decent American player. However, they will market a future superstar American player. Right now, Kane is the only one who really fits the mold best. I was just responding to the posters who suggested Getzlaf to be on the cover. It's doubtful the league cares about players playing in Anaheim, unless it's the face of the NHL or something. Getzlaf clearly isn't.
-
The NHL isn't going to market a Canadian guy playing in Anaheim of all places. Kane is young and American, playing in an original 6 city.
-
Well, Peter Worrell seemed to think Lilja was black.
-
They should put Sean Avery on the cover instead. Actually, I'm quite surprised they used anyone other than Crosby on the cover.
-
Kronwall has been challenged before after big hits, and just skates away, Hudler always used to act tough, much like Sammy, and skated away. Homer dives all the time. Also, now Williams is part of the mold, and I remember him acting like a punk on numerous occasions. Lebda is another one. There's plenty of divers and timid players on this team which piss me off. I'm not saying that star players should fight, but if they're going to start acting tough, they may as well go through with it instead of turtling and backing down. I hate it when Wings players do that.
-
Franzen embodies what most of our players are like when there's a scrum or an altercation. Lapointe isn't a symbolism of those Cup teams. Those teams were for the most part tough and physical, including Lapointe who fought from time to time. Don't know why he acted that way in the video, though. So yeah, there's always a diver and softie on every team, but on this team that's par for the course.
-
So based on your theory, I should personally attack anyone who I disagree with on here. Calling people names is apparently the way to go. I hope the mods don't follow your philosophy.
-
Did I profess my unending love about Lapointe or something? I didn't say Franzen is the only diver in Wings history. At least Lapointe stood up for himself from time to time.
-
I'll take your word for it.
-
No, I'm not. I didn't personally attack anyone in my post. I just wrote my opinion through clever humor. If you don't see the difference, then you're just as bad as he is.
-
You were complaining about people calling the Wings roster soft. Well, Franzen is on the Wings roster isn't he? Also, he's not the only player on the team that's turtled before in scrums or acted tougher than what he really is. I was just showing an example of what you don't like being showcased. It's just a fact you'll have to live with.
-
No, I just don't like little pricks coming on here and trying to start s*** just because they didn't like my post. You were obviously trying to start s***. Nice try, jerk.
-
I would say, "look who's talking", but I neither know nor care who you are, so just shut the hell up.
