Oh well, he was too physical and hard working to fit into our system anyway. We don't really need guys of that mold on our 3rd line. The 3rd line is for finesse and puck possession, not 6'3 grinders and hard workers who are willing to get their noses dirty. Also, he can't score or skate, which is a must for any 3rd line player around the NHL. Don't know why any Wings fans should be upset about this. It's all good, guys.

I totally agree with you on that point, and I hate it how certain posters here (whose names I won't mention) constantly talk about the Wings being a soft team. For some inexplicable reason I always get grouped in with these pro-enforcer slappies, but I've never actually said anything about our team being soft, or even alluded to it in distant ways. However, some of these other posters, as you mentioned, do need to grow up and stop making fun of our European boys. Has it already been determined that Williams will play on the PP? I figured Kronwall and Ericsson will on the point for the 2nd unit. And please don't tell me that Williams is right-handed, because that doesn't mean s*** if the guy sucks.

There were others who weren't injured that didn't get the job done in the clutch. Point is, people are upset because they wanted more grit on the 3rd and 4th lines, and feel that not having it is detrimental in the long run. As I pointed out in another thread, other than 2002, when the Wings were loaded with HOF'ers, other Cup wins occurred with more checkers and gritty forwards in the lineup. This lineup has poor balance, and people are pissed about it.

All right, maybe some people are overreacting, but don't forget that our last memory of the Wings was watching Crosby skating the Cup at the JLA with Bettman smiling and clappng for him. That leaves some scarred memories for fans. People were hoping for more out of this offseason. Instead, this team looks weaker now than last year, and in Hockeytown, it's either Cup or bust. Right now this team doesn't look that good compared to other top teams or to previous Wings teams. Not to mention, we've signed players that aren't exactly known for their great work ethic and determination. For a team that looked unmotivated at times in the Finals, that's not a good sign. If people want to panic, let them. It makes this site more wild and unpredictable. I don't mind that.

Sadly, it's not. A few posters here are pretty much that extreme. Just count how many, "go cheer for another team" posts you'll see. It happens quite often.

Ericsson makes Lebda expendable, as well as Meech and Chelios who is now gone. Lilja was one of our best and most consistent d-men last year. And besides the chicks love him.
