Of course Sammy. He was more fun to watch and was way better looking than Williams. Sammy was a man with a style of play of his own. There will never be another one like him. Williams is just a little s*** who can't grow facial hair. Still don't know why Holland bothered bringing him back.

Excuse me if I'm mad that the Wings roster looks as tough as the Finnish Elite League. I bet Jokerit could beat up the Wings in a brawl.
-
Williams is the equivalent of rolling paper.
-
Yeah in the playoffs. 14 wins in 2008 and 16 wins in 2009.
-
Aren't Draper and Maltby the studs you are referring to?
-
I don't. I'd easily put Tretiak and Roy ahead of him. This is the era of the goalie in the NHL as far as I'm concerned. And like I said, Brodeur has done nothing in the playoffs in at least 5 years, while lesser goalies (Giguere, Kiprusoff, Roloson) have carried their teams to the Finals singlehandedly.
-
Brodeur has sucked in the playoffs ever since the Devils won their last cup in 2003. He's been outplayed by Ray Emery and Cam Ward, and was taken off his game by Sean Avery of all people. Doesn't that sound like an overrated performer?
-
Dream on. This lineup actually makes the 2006 Wings look physicaly imposing. Having 2 sissies like Williams and Eaves playing on what is usually known as a checking line isn't going to look good, since neither of those players can actually "check". Defense is this team's only supposed strength, and it's still a big question mark because of last year's breakdowns on defense.
-
The Devils did fine last year without Brodeur. He's great, but he is somewhat a product of the system. Good goalies are a dime a dozen now. Lidstrom is truly one of a kind. He gets my vote. Besides, a goalie is not a player.

Nah, I think the fans at the JLA get secretly excited when one of our players dives and turtles in the middle of a scrum.
-
Souray and Boll would both destroy Ericsson. As would Chris Neil. Nice try, UK.
-
How about we send Williams down to GR? Or maybe make him compete for a roster spot. Why should he be entitled to anything all of a sudden. Just to think that hard working checkers like Helm and Abby have to compete for a job, while some lazy euro like Williams is given some entitlement on the team. We traded him for Kyle Calder because Calder was thought of as a guy that would actually play hard and battle for pucks. What does that tell you about Williams?
-
So with Lilja likely out, is there any chance this team gets to 5 fighting majors this season? I just hope Ericsson won't try to fight some heavy who has the potential of hurting him badly. Other than him, no one else on this team will do s*** when the other team starts playing dirty.

Isn't Mark Mowers right-handed? Just a thought.
-
Hopefully. Hossa ruined their chemistry last year during his one night stand here. Now that he's thankfully gone, I want to see them recreate their magic together.
-
How true. If tomorrow Holland traded Helm for Ovechkin, several posters here would complain that we just acquired another europuss.
-
Let me guess, you'd like it more if the muppets fought each other, which would compensate for your own desire to see Wings fights. You're a terrible person for wanting more entertainment at Wings games. Say what you want, enforcer threads are the best threads on LGW. Remember that one Downey thread during the playoffs which just wouldn't go away? Priceless.
-
That's the whole thing. You can't go back a few seasons. Go back a few seasons, and Draper and Chelios actually look like real important players to this team. Homer has lost his effectiveness at doing anything other than screening the goalie. Of course that was always his strength, but at least he could score from time to time and contribute to the first line. Now, it looks like he can't.
-
I think that all of the pro-enforcer posters here are terrible people, who probably punch pregnant women for fun and strangle kittens, just to compensate for their lack of toughness and desire to see more hockey fights. Hey, I'm getting kind of good at this thing. Maybe I'll jump to the other side from now on.
-
That's nothing. Me and Kenny once had drinks over a bar, when I persuased him to trade for Cory Cross at the trading deadline as a joke. I never thought it'd actually work.
-
That's why fans at the JLA always fall asleep when there's a fight, right? You're wrong in your analysis. Many Wings fans want to see more fights because they're tired of seeing teams afraid to fight back for all these seasons. I'm sure the attendance at the JLA would beneift from a little more entertainment. Oh and there is no more WWF. Now it's the WWE. How can people still not know about that?
-
I presume that no one posting in this thread is actually anti-enforcer, right?
-
What did Kenny say about Boogaard?
-
Gaborik is not a big signing, considering how he's always injured. They were better off with Gomez, who was their best offensive player last year, and a lot more durable. The Rangers are in trouble right now on paper, and unless Lundqvist has the best season in goaltending history, they'll have an extremely hard time making the playoffs.
