Weird all time unit that Tikhonov picked. I can't belive he didn't think Mikhailov should be on that top unit. And how could you not pick Bykov on your all time Russian NHL defensemen list? The guy carried Lidstrom to a Norris in 2003, singlehandedly.
-
There's no point signing him, period. He's not good enough to be a top 6 player, and not physical enough to be on the checking lines. He's basically a slightly bigger and less skilled version of Hudler. Oh and I don't care about BB's political views either. I just care about what's on the screen and how I feel when she's on it.
-
Then why is Holland interested in Williams and Sykora? Sure I wouldn't mind Grier or Malhotra, but some of these other names aren't what we need right now.
-
Words can't describe how happy I am right now. The Pens benched this old man during the Finals and now we go after him? Holland is barking up the wrong trees right now. The top free agents we should have signed are already off the table. Holland is now going after the leftovers (crap).
-
If by fine you mean we'll be in the playoffs than of course. However, on paper this team right now doesn't look that much better than the other top contenders. We need to add more grit and hunger. Basically the kinds of players who'll do anything to win the Cup.
-
I said maybe 2nd best. Ragulin is another guy to consider who was a standout defenseman for the USSR.
-
Why would a team that didn't play with much effort in games 6 and 7 of the SCF Finals go after a guy that is known for being soft and not playing with much effort? Williams is a guy that's always been shy about contact. Apparently, that's what we need right now.

In a few years, there will be less than 10 Russians playing in the NHL. Zubov is certainly one of the best Russian defensemen ever. Obviously, Fetisov would be first, but Zubov might just be 2nd on that list.

First and last. I'd rather die than go back there again for that 13 hour marathon over two days. I hardly slept or ate anything over the three days. Basically the worst and most important thing I've ever done in my life. Now I have 6 weeks to sweat over the results. But yeah, ironically preparing for the exam all summer was the only thing that kept my mind off that game 7 against the Pens. I hadn't posted here in a while and didn't know what kind of stuff the Wings were up to.

Without Robert Lang, Williams is in essence a useless player. Also, he's softer than pudding, which isn't what this team really needs. He was always afraid to play along the boards when he was here, and for some reason Holland always seems to go for that s***.
-
I suddenly want Sammy back after hearing this news. And what's this, we've signed Delmore again? God, I leave a few days for the Bar Exam, and come back to find out that Holland has completely lost his marbles. Did we sign Cory Cross in the last week by any chance?

Every time I see that goal against the Blues, I wonder how the camera man wound up in that position for the perfect shot. I don't think I've ever seen a camera placed at that angle before. Oh, also he scored a highlight goal against the Blackhawks once that should have been on that list.
-
So will I, just because he always made me laugh with his goofy looks and unusual hockey strategies, especially those backhand spin moves of his. His shot was also something to behold. It'll be hard finding an adequate replacement from a comedic standpoint. However, Franzen is starting to get laughs out of me due to his odd behavior in scrums, so maybe he's the next comic relief.

One softy for another. Not a good trade, especially since Afinogenov is not only soft but also lazy.
-
We survived Yzerman, Shanahan and Fedorov leaving over a span of a few seasons. I'm pretty sure we can survive losing Sammy, Hudler and the playoff choker Hossa. Kopecky doesn't count as an NHL player, so his departure is about as big a deal as Zeppo Marx leaving the Marx Brothers.
-
I hope so, otherwise how would he handle the puck?
-
I guess Kopecky is winning the "who will you not miss the most poll".
-
Well, we do need another euro-puss now that several have left.
-
Chelios. Losing some of the players on the list definitely takes away from the amount of jokes that I'm going to be able to make in the future. I have a strange feeling this Leino kid may be give something to talk about.
-
Can you fight, though? None of those other attributes interest me that much.
-
Most of those guys can actually fight, meaning that Holland won't go anywhere near them. Is Igor Grigorenko still available?
-
Why do so many people want us to sign Donkey boy? He's the epitome of someone who is lazy and sucks. He doesn't play defense, he isn't physical, he doesn't have much confidence lately in his skill, and he can't fight. What does this guy have except speed and puckhandling, which obviously haven't been enough to give him more playing time?
-
I've never understood how anyone could think of him as a star player, but he's an improvement to their lack of scoring depth. He was a lousy captain, though, if you ask me.
-
With the recent Euro purge going on for the Wings, he's likely to become LGW's favorite overrated player. Let's hope he actually puts together a complete season for once. Our secondary scoring as of now looks slim, especially if Holland continues to sit on his ass and admire his Stanley Cup rings of the past.
-
Some tough Canadian boy who fights and is bigger than 6'2. That description gives Holland a lot of leeway as to who to sign.
