Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

    Tomas Kopecky, is that you?

Aaron Downey and Darren McCarty will not be offered contracts

Downey never hurt this team with his style. You are just in denial there. We need someone to stick up for this team, or else more guys like Kopecky are going to get hurt in fights. Also, enfocers play their ass of on each shift, which is something any team needs to spark the rest of the team. But what do I know, the Wings play some unique style of hockey that no one has ever seen, thus our players actually are immune from needing someone to back them up. All the other teams in the league are dumb for having players like Neil and Orr. Excuse me for wanting a more balanced team and a 4th line that isn't made up of useless players like it was last year.

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

For once I agree with Crymson on something. Hossa greatly underachieved in the playoffs, and made himself look like a fool for leaving the Pens last year. Yeah, he had a great regular season, but in Hockeytown that doesn't matter. He played like an average joe in the playoffs, and that's not why we signed him in the offseason. People need to stop acting like this guy was here for 10 years and gave us great memories. He did nothing of the sort, and we have every reason to be happy that he's gone, because now we can clear up cap space and hopefully sign someone who'll actually play up to their expectations in the playoffs where it counts most.

Chris Neil turned down the Ottawa Senators'

Neil is not really much of an enforcer, but at this point he would be an improvement over any of our fighters (except Lilja, who mahandled Neil in their 1 fight )

Every team needs some level of physicality to win. The Wings aren't exempt from that rule. And an enforcer shouldn't be able to skate with some apparent skill. I could care less about his skill when the rest of the team can more than make up for it. And I wasn't talking about extreme physicality, I was just talking about some physicality. Right now we have extreme non-physicality, except from 2 or 3 forwards. This team is softer than pudding at times, especially when they don't play with 100% effort, which was the case for all of last season. You may be O.K. with non-chalant efforts, but I'm not.

The ones on the top 2 lines are fine with me. The ones after that, especially when they try to sneak them into the 4th line, suck at playing any kind of physical hockey. That's what 3rd and 4th lines are for. Not prima donnas, but gritty players.

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

Bye bye Hossa. Thanks for all those big goals you scored in the ever important regular season. God knows we never could have finished 2nd in the West without you.

I'd be surprised if Holland signs an enforcer. He did surprise me several years ago when Downey was given a shot, but I expect to see some soft euros on the 4th line when the season begins.

Chris Neil turned down the Ottawa Senators'

Ottawa sucked last year, which explains both those stats. For that money, though, I'd rather pay less to have a real enforcer.

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

Yeah, but it does feel good to see Jackman get hurt.

    What The Wings Should Do

One lucky draw doesn't negate all those consecutive victories, but hey what do I know, everyone knows Souray just fell down for the heck of it, and Sharp was actually toying with Lilja all along.

Chris Neil turned down the Ottawa Senators'

I could care less. We need someone to fill the tough guy role, and I'm not interested in his ability to skate nor his ability to perform the triple axle on the ice. Of course, I'm in the LGW minority, since most posters here have this obession with seeing an enforcer who can fight, score 50 points, and not take any minor penalties (Ever!!)

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

Yeah, but he's got some great dance moves youtube

    What The Wings Should Do

Yeah. I hate those ungrateful people who forgot his reign of terror.

    What The Wings Should Do

A bigger monster than that power forward Kopecky?

    What The Wings Should Do

Fine by me, but all the softies on LGW are going to flame you for such a suggestion.

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

I've always thought of a power forward as a guy who hits, fights, scores lots of goals, and does it in front of the net.

I may get flamed for this...

Maybe the 2nd best noir ever. After The Maltese Falcon of course.

A few players not yet mentioned....

    I want Belak.

Kopecky to test the open market

You really think some team will be willing to trade anything for this guy? Holland doesn't have a choice but to let him go for nothing.

Kopecky to test the open market

Nice projected stats. Yeah, and I had the potential to be an underwear model.

    What Ken Holland Should Do

If we had room to carry a Slovakian broomstick for several years, then we have room to carry an enforcer also.

What If all our UFA/RFA's go

On the bright side, we'll have less guys go to the Olympics next year, hence more rested players for the playoffs.

Kopecky to test the open market

Good. About time we see some anger out of you. Let the dark side of the force flow through you, SWF.
  25. GMRwings1983

Kopecky to test the open market

Yeah, because calling people dips**t for having an opinion makes you much better than the rest of us.
