Thank God Flip is such a great shooter, or else we wouldn't be ahead right now. Our defense is being dominated right now. We need to do a better job of cycling the puck in their zone, because there's too much play occuring at our end right now. I don't expect us to shut them out in the 3rd like we did the last game, because the Pens are just bringing it right now. Hank and Hossa have had some great chances, but they're still having trouble finishing. Hopefully they'll ice this game for us in the 3rd.

Pavel Datsyuk, where are you? Like I've said these last few days, our great 5 on 5 defense is meaningless when Pittsburgh is on the PP, because they'll have the time and space to maneuver and do what they want. Our top players need to step it up right now. No more of this relying on 4th liners s***. Hank and Hossa have to put the put in the net. Also, it's been forever since Hudler scored a goal.

I wonder what they'd be saying if their best forward is injured like ours is?

I still can't figure out how GMR hasn't been banned yet? As for Ericsson, he needs to grab the next guy who spears him and start wailing away. Hopefully it's Crosby.

I remember in the 2001 playoffs there was talk of Yzerman playing for a potential game 7 against the Kings, but then we found out that his injury was way worse than anyone was letting on. The team is never going to be truthful about injuries. I would be surprised if he plays at all in this series, because I'm guessing that he is severely injured for him not to be playing in games of this magnitude.

The injuries the last few years have really stifled his career, and at this point he should be only a PP specialist, but not a guy that plays on the top 2 lines. Then again, with Hossa and Datsyuk playing like crap during the playoffs, everyone should have foreseen that Homer would decline along with them. He's not the kind of guy who'd going to carry a line.

That'd be sweet if we can win 2 games without Datsyuk, just to stick it to the league for making us play this early.

I was just looking back on how the only teams that have had success against us in the last decade all followed the same formula. They played a tight checking, defensive style of hockey, often resorted to the trap, and had their goalie stand on his head and win the series for them. The Pens just aren't going to do that. I don't see them playing with a defense first mentality, and I don't see Crosby or Malkin thinking defense first. They're going to try to do what they tried doing last year and what Chicago tried doing in the last series, which is to take the Wings head on and play up and down hockey. In other words, they're going to fail miserably just like they did before. What Anaheim tried to do is exactly how to beat the Wings and they almost did again this year. I don't see the Pens as the team that has that same defensive commitment and strategy. Even without Datsyuk, you can't beat the Wings by matching them skill for skill. The Pens should know that after what happened last year.

And then Hossa flips off the crowd and announces over the loudspeaker that he's glad he didn't sign with a losing team yet again.

I can't believe Pens fans are whining about bad luck when we're playing without Datsyuk. Ungrateful assholes.

The series is already over. I recommend that you don't watch games 2 and 3, and tune in late for game 4 to see the Cup celebration. You don't want to miss that.

The best chance of success they can have against us is on the PP, where we can't play our defensive strategy against them. That's exactly how Anaheim's top line did most of their scoring against us. 5 on 5, Crosby and Malkin are going to be owned by Lidstrom, Rafalski and Hank.

Stop crying already. We owned your team last year and will do it again this year. You don't have the kind of strategy needed to beat the Wings. What works against Washington and Carolina won't work against the Wings. And as far as us needing the boards. You need the refs.
