WCF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 4 (OT)
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
A loss is a loss. If this team kept their foot on the pedal, this series would already be over as I make this post. At this point anything can happen, especially with Datsyuk's injury possibly dragging on. This could be a long series now. We better hope the Pens don't finish Carolina quickly, or else they'll be resting while the Wings are playing. -
Havlat should have been called for diving.

I hate seeing that manpussy Patrick Sharp scoring that goal. Too bad Lilja and Kopecky aren't around to decorate his face anymore. -

True, but it would be more heartbreaking to lose in this fashion than to just get blown out. We're on the verge of winning the series here with 1 shot. It would be a big blow for us to let this series continue any further, after being so close to icing it. Thus, Franzen needs to score here. -

Well, I said it would be a tight period despite how it ended. I'm worried about Ozzie being all over the place in this game. He's having a hard time handling a lot of easy shots. I hope that doesn't come into play here. As others have pointed out, a long OT will hurt us since Kronwall isn't playing. Also, I want to see us test Huet a lot more. The Wings only had 6 shots in that period. -

Finally, Hossa and Homer are outplaying their 3rd and 4th line counterparts. Now it's time for Franzen and Hank to finish this series off. Make no mistake, Chicago is playing for their season right here. Down 3-0 means that it's over in a series. It's only a matter of time. I expect them to come out with that realization for this period. -

It wasn't our property the last game and wasn't our property in game 7 against Anaheim, until Cleary scored that goal. Hopefully, we'll recapture that 3rd period dominance that we had earlier in the playoffs. -

I want to see them leave the building after the game with their tail between their legs. This type of game may be the sweetest way to do it. -

Chicago is lucky the period ended. They were saved by the bell and will now have time to regroup. This is going to be a tight 3rd and hopefully we'll capitalize on the momentum despite having it broken by the intermission. -

s***ty, uninspired effort. I hope they beat us 8-0, just so the Wings actually compete the next game. -

God, I wish Lilja was playing right now. He'd grab Patrick Sharp and beat his ass again in front of his whole family. This is starting to look like a game that I wouldn't mind having Downey in. It could get even uglier here as it goes on. -

The refs are screwing us, but that doesn't excuse the Wings from that horrible start that they had. It's been a recurring problem and for once Ozzie didn't bail them out. -

Bettman wants a long series. Doubtful that he also wants one in the East. -

Your boy Benny Eager wouldn't have done that would he? Stop bitching. Your team does worse s*** than this. It was a clean hit. -

Yes! We hurt someone on another team. I knew this day would come. This makes up for Datsyuk's injury. -

Wouldn't it be great if we had a guy that could start a fight in order to wake his team up and actually show some energy? Instead, we put a skilled player like Leino on the 4th line with 2 guys who will neutralize his skill no matter how hard they play. If we don't get the next goal, this game is OVER. -

Haven's seen softies like that from Ozzie. The Wings propensity for slow starts is finally catching up to us. They deserve to pay for this continuous laziness at the beginning of games. -

How come it always takes only 1 shot to score on our PK? -

Eddie Olczyk again? Come on, this is getting ridiculous. He's going to spend the entire broadcast telling us how resilient his boys were against Calgary and Vancouver. -
But hockey wasn't as global and widespread during Shore's era, in order for his dominance to be somehow superior to Lidstrom's. It was a 6 team NHL and all the players were Canadians. Also, they didn't have to play the same amount of games and go through the same rigorous schedule and competition. I just think it's too hard to determine these types of comparisons without sounding silly or wildly hypothetical. Even I'm starting to do it now.

This is already reminding me of the Rafalski situation, where he was supposedly a game time decision for game 1 against Anaheim, and then wound up being out of the lineup until game 6, if I'm not mistaken. The team is just jerking everyone off. He may play in this game, and then again he may not play the rest of the playoffs. There's really no way to tell.
-
Do you really think Eddie Shore would be better in today's league than Lidstrom currently is? Lidstrom in my opinion would dominate Eddie Shore's era if he was to go back in time and play in it.

Who's to say Hasek is the best European goalie ever? Tretiak was a legendary goalie in his own right. In fact, there's many great players from the Red Army team that never got to play in the NHL, which makes it harder to compare all the European players together. I'd say that post 80's, Lidstrom is definitely the best European player ever in my opinion. 15+ seasons of playing around 100 total games a season, playing 25 or more minutes of ice time during that stretch, and against the best players on the other team no less. Not to mention, he's done it all at a high level, and for the last 10 years he's been the best in the league at it.

So I'm a spoiled Wings fan who believes that we can fight and win at the same time. Big deal. BTW, your sentence about cakes made no sense.
