Apparently, the majority of you don't believe that responsibility starts at the top. Well I do. Ownership doesn't care. They've let Holland have immunity. When a person has immunity, they can do whatever they want. The problems trickle down in this organization. Blashill can't be the first person blamed. If we had a talent filled roster, then I'd say it's all Blashill's fault. We don't. Our roster is trash. The payroll is in no way indicative of the talent of this team. The ownership has to be clueless to dish out money to players that suck. They have complete trust in Holland and probably don't even watch the games. So yes, they're willing to pay, but that doesn't mean you can absolve the ownership.

Forget about Nyquist and Tatar. What they showed in the past is irrelevant at this point. Their numbers over the last year and a half should show they're nothing special. Larkin is disappointing, but his play tailed off last season after the ASG. I wonder if other teams have figured him out?

I wish those days had returned. Those teams were fun as they had Probert, Kocur, and other goons that would be among the league leaders in fights and PIM. And they had a young star player named Steve Yzerman. Name me one exciting thing about this team?

Those were good moves, but it's too little too late. He can't build the defense and he's given big contracts to everyone. There's no cap space to get better. On a side note, I watched highlights of the game on NHLN, and didn't know Gary Thorne was doing play by play again. Apparently, he's doing part-time commentary for the Kings. Great to hear him calling a game at the JLA for the last time.

Are they playing below their capabilities? I don't see anything special in these players. That may be OK for most of the posters on this forum, but for the out of town fans (like myself), that drives us insane. I could care less about the Tigers.

You're leaning the wrong way. Holland has put this team together and decided to overpay EVERYBODY. All these home grown jobbers also have no-trade clauses to boot. I don't think any coach can turn this into a good playoff team. Even Babcock barely made the playoffs his last few seasons, only to get bounced in the first round anyway.

But we're back to having one of the highest payrolls in the league, so we must be talented.

The more I think about this, this is not a big deal. Van Damme played goalie in game 7 of the 1995 SCF.

Our defense is AHL level, talent wise. Tape to tape passes and puck possession both start from the back end. If your defense sucks, you can't do either of those things. It's not a fundamental change in philosophy. We just don't have Lidstrom, Rafalski, Chelios, etc. anymore. Kronwall is too old.

Line combos are for video games. We have so many mediocre to below average players, that there's no way you can put together a line combination that will make this a good team.
