Hawks sign amateur emergency backup goalie for a day (game)
GMRwings1983 replied to chaps80's topic in General
I wonder how much money he made for the night? He's lucky it wasn't the Wings. Imagine the fear of having to suit up behind our defensive corps. -
12/3 GDT - Red Wings @ Penguins - 7:00 PM EST

This team is an embarrassment to all of us. Having a scrub like Glendenning playing on the wing with your top center is sad. Also, the team fell asleep defensively on those backdoor plays all game long. Yet another game given away. http://nimg.sulekha.com/sports/original700/ken-holland-2011-5-13-1-10-38.jpg -
That's been the strategy for a long time. They don't block shots and don't clear the crease. In other words, they let the guy from the point tee off on the net.

12/1 GDT - Panthers at Red Wings - 7:30 PM EST

Honestly, Larkin has been underwhelming since the middle of last season. Not sure if him having a good start was a fluke or if other teams just needed time to adjust to him. His stats this season suck. -
But......but his wife only wants to be in California where there's plam trees, beaches and good tacos.

Can We Please Stop Putting Teams In Unsustainable Cities?
GMRwings1983 replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
KC has the fanciest arena, but the city seems to have given up about getting an NHL or NBA team. The arena makes plenty of money, as not having a tenant has freed space for other entertainment events. I don't see hockey working in Portland, Salt Lake City or Houston. Seattle is an interest idea, but would they rather have an NHL team than replace the NBA team they lost? -
11/23 GDT: Red Wings 2, at Buffalo Sabres 1 (SO)
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in 2016-17
Didn't watch the game, but I'm glad they got two points from somebody. And I saw the Vanek goal. Was pretty slick. Glendenning should replicate it on his next breakaway. -
Why not just Knights? Because they didn't want to conflict with the OHL team?
-
So he's getting paid $1.25 million less than DeKeyser and Ericsson combined.
-
I blame the people on this forum for constantly telling us for years how great our prospects are. As I don't watch GR, I bought into it thinking that those posters must have some knowledge about players. I also falsely assumed the people running this team must know what they're doing. Unfortunately, I can see now that most of these prospects are nothing more than lower line jobbers.

I can't wait for the Packers to move from that old s**hole stadium of theirs.
-
I'm guessing this will have a negative effect on the ice quality. Time to draft more lumbering players that can forecheck. Enough of the speed, but no skill movement. Also, the arena will no longer be a shrine to the Wings. Now you'll see Bill Laimbeer's and Dennis Rodman's retired jersey, as well as basketball posters everywhere. Pretty sad.

Popugayev? LOL. That means "parrot" in Russian. Those Russians and their animal names.
-
Isn't this more appropriate for the centennial?
-
You forgot DeKeyser. Green has played well, but is he worth $6 million? Seems like half this team wouldn't be getting this kind of money anywhere else.
-
Who will serve as the sworsdman to cut the head off? Jimmy D? Yzerman? Photographers recently captured Nielsen in the locker room talking to his agent.
-
For us non-local Wings fans, we want to punch a hole through the wall when we hear that. I could give two craps about the Tigers. This payroll should be near the bottom of the league. That alone is enough reason to fire Holland.
-
Honestly, it feels like there's less than 10 posters here. I don't think it's because this team sucks so much as the fact that nothing is changing. Nothing pisses a fanbase off more than the feeling that ownership doesn't care anymore. Fans also don't like a GM that doesn't have accountability. Holland moving on should bring posters back, hopefully. This organization is a shark that has stopped moving and the fans have followed suit.
-
And Holland should do the same. He has dishonored his lord (Mike Ilitch) and his clan (LGW posters). Go out with dignity Kenny.
-
How can Holland have the nerve to fire Blashill and not step down himself? He's the main problem with the team. He racked up the salary on this team despite not bringing in talented players. He overpaid all the home grown trash we have. He needs to stop taking advantage of the jaded Ilitch family and step down. Have some honor like a Japanese warrior and realize it's time to leave. Firing Blashill is another way for Holland to avoid the blame.
-
At least we're fighting a lot. As for Larkin, his sophomore slump started after the ASG last season. We don't need to mimic the Leafs. They're one of the most hapless franchises in sports.
-
Tyler Durden?
-
This mean we get to see more Riley Sheahan. We're so lucky.
-
The color commentary guy was Brian Boucher. Goalies should not be doing color commentary. They never think a goalie is at fault for any goal. Kind of like Nightfall (if he still posts here anymore).
-
This game was different, though. We scored three goals. Should have been enough to win.
