Man, you are pathetic. I've already explained to you why Lidstrom said what he said, and you pretty much admitted it in the bolded part. He's not going to blatantly disagree with the management. Yet you still feel the need to call me out to every other poster, making stupid incorrect comments in the process. And I've already said that we're doing fine in the regular seasons without enforcers. I've never said otherwise. Since you don't have any arguments here, I think you're just going after me for the sake of going after me due to my opinon on enforcers, which is obviously different than yours.
-
How am I wrong? I'm saying that Lidstrom is not going to come on TV and say that this team needs more enforcers despite what the management and coaches think. That's just not his style, nor most athletes style. I'm not admitting my wrong in this opinion, because I'm not wrong. That's exactly the proper way to interpret Lidstrom's comments. You just read too much into what he said. If Lidstrom was Charles Barkley, then I'd think differently.

Right, I'm sure WIngs players didn't appreciate at all what Downey did? Lidstrom was probably mad at Downey for fighting a guy that he himself was planning on fighting the next time they played, as retribution. I'm sure Wings players appreciate Downey a lot more than what you're making it out to be. Come off it before you make any more bad posts in this thread.

Here you go again talking about real fans and whiners and crap like that. Just because I want an enforcer on this team and will continue to want one doesn't mean I'm whining. I appreciate the regular season success, but I also realize that soft teams don't translate into playoff success. Somehow that makes me a whiner and you a real fan. Once again, you're engaging in self-aggrandizement, like many posters here unfortunately do.
-
Of course Lidstrom is going to kiss ass. When have you ever heard him criticize the coaches or management? You're either ignorant of that fact or in denial. Did Lidstrom last year say that Downey or McCarty weren't needed? I don't seem to remember him saying anything about it. Your interpretation of the importance of this interview is just pitiful. And last I checked, this team has still never won the Cup without enforcers. They haven't proven anything this year, except that they can have a good regular season without toughness, which we already know since they've done it many times before. Why would you even bring that up? Basically, everything that you've said in this topic is wrong.

Yet he always invites douchebag analysts on his show who know nothing about hockey.
-
Didn't the Leafs already have that problem when Kyle Wellwood ballooned up.
-
It would make more sense for other, less physical sports to do this before hockey does. For instance, I can envision something like this possibly happening in basketball, soccer and baseball with much less disastrous consequences. Even then, there would still be some unfomfortable feelings in the locker room. Boys will be boys.

If that's what he meant (which I'm sure he didn't), then that's pathetic, considering how Downey stood up for him getting leveled last year by Lapperiere. He didnt' say enforcers aren't needed at all, he's just going with the flow of the team. If we had a roster full of enforcers, he'd say that it was needed. Of course he's going to back up what the management and coaching staff do. Is that really so hard for you to figure out?

If Kopecky hit her, he'd probably still fall down. Seriously, though, I agree with what you said, and I think the other players playing against her would feel the same way. Likewise, the guys on the team would feel slightly uncomfortable. This whole thread feels like some April Fool's joke. No chance it happens in our lifetime.
-
Please Kenny, get it done. He'd be a good influence on Kopecky.
-
How dare he criticize this team? Sounds like Babcock is yet another bandwagon fan.
-
No, Forsberg. This was done to let "Peter the Great (Diver)" into the HOF.
-
Exactly. I think both Semin and Burrows could beat up our 6'3 turtle Johan Franzen, after seeing his strategy against Vandermeer. Sammy is in the same boat as Franzen.

Should we abandon the race for the President's trophy?
GMRwings1983 replied to Yzerman191's topic in General
Because they have lots of big, strong Canadians who fight and play gritty hockey. Our soft euros will melt at the sight of those Flames players taking runs at them. -
Me too. He had no right to beat Rihanna that way. Let's hope he gets prison time out of this.

Isn't that what the trade deadline is for? -
And then that Preds fan will come here again for an entire week to tell us all about how great Tootoo is.
-
Osgood is to blame for it singlehandedly. He needs to make better passes after the other team clears the puck to our end of the rink.
-
The greatest example I can think of is Marty Lapointe. Granted, he made a lot of money when he left Detroit, so maybe it wasn't all a curse. But his play definitely went into the toilet.

St. Louis won't be poison. It will be like drinking fine wine on a May afternoon. That's why I picked them.

Whoever started this thread is clearly responsible for the Wings getting shutout last night. I happen to know that Islanders' players often frequent LGW, and they must have been motivated by what they read. Nice going, dude.
-
Cam Ward didn't start the playoffs for them. Based on this analogy, Conklin should start the playoffs, at which point he will suck badly, and then Ozzie will come in and lead us to the Cup. Is that a fair way to assess the OP's idea here?
-
I hope it's the Blues. It's been a while since the Wings have had an easy 1st round matchup.
-
Enforcers are not overrated. And yes, several of our players are sissies. Franzen and Sammy are sissies by backing down from fights and turtling at any chance they get. In fact, I'd use a different word than "sissy" to define some of Franzen's tactics, but I don't want my first post of the day to involve bad language, so I'll hold off. Also, it's not a given that the team will be more physical this year in the playoffs. The 4th line has shown no physicality all year, and the other lines have followed suit. This is a vanilla team right now that wins games simply by outscoring teams. In the playoffs, you can't win that way since there aren't as many high scoring games. You have to be more physical.
