I know. It's amazing some of the ridiculous trades that people want to make for the guy.
-
I for one think we should injure Polak. The Blues have never been classy against us, thus there's no reason for us to start.
-
I've never said anything bad about him. I just think it's disgusting some of the treatment he's gotten around here.
-
I told you guys Kopecky was a great player.
-
Let's hope Polak is in the hospital longer than Hossa. Kopecky needs to drop his gloves. Without Lilja, we need a second fighter out there.
-
Nothing he can do. There's no one out there available that has half his talent. I hope it's precautionary also, but this has looked worse as it's gone on. This could be the worst thing that's happened this season to the Wings.

Looks like the Red Wings & the Sharks battling off the ice, Robert

Very funny, but you know who I was referring to. -

Let me give you a hint. He's tall, he's skinny, and he really SUCKS! That player I speak of probably wouldn't be enough, but I'd throw in some other compensation to seal the deal. -
Good luck convincing OsGod that there's a difference.

You're right, there's a lot of ignorant posters who have posted in this thread, who have no appreciation for a guy that will stand up for his teammates. That probably comes about because the Wings haven't stressed that part of the game for so long. This team doesn't mind if someone roughs them up after the whistle. Apparently, many of the fans don't either.

That post makes about as much sense as your avatar. If that was a clean KO, then I'm Elvis Presley.
-
That video has obviously been doctored to show that Weber had some kind of advantage.
-
He doesn't speak English very well, so he probably misinterpreted the meaning of the word. A standing KO is what they call a TKO, which is a big difference. Also, I think Sheldon Souray and Jared Boll would probably consider Lilja to be a quality fighter.
-
What would that give us that we don't already have? Besides a French-Canadian, of course.
-
Some of these posts are f***ing pathetic. A KO is when a guy lays on the ice for a long time, and needs help to get off. A good example of that would be Fedoruk/Orr or Kocur/Kyte. If you think this was in that ballpark, you've been smoking too much of that Tennessee bluegrass. To suggest that he should never fight again is also idiotic. Lilja has done pretty damn well in his fights so far. Name me one enforcer who's never been hurt before in any way in a fight? A concussion is really not that uncommon an injury for a fight.

Worst post ever.

So because some euro who you happen to like got sent down, you wind up posting nonsense about Downey being a goon who is completely useless. Why do you think they called him up if he's such a bum? Get over your man-crush on Leino. He'll probably be back in no time.
-
That video proves my point. I wish Laraque would open up like that more often. Then I'd like him more. Instead, that fight is a rarity of how he usually fights. Bottom line is that he fights not to lose more than he fights to win. That's why he hasn't had a bad loss in a long time. At the first sign of trouble, he grapples.
-
Right, so that punch that dropped Souray and those punches that hit poor Patrick Sharp in the face were a result of Lilja's grappling too much? I suppose Jared Boll turtled against Lija because he was afraid to be wrestled further, instead of being afraid of being punched?
-
Laugh all you want, but Laraque's fights are about as exciting as watching a 6 hour baseball marathon. I wonder how he would fare in a boxing ring where he couldn't just grab and wrestle his opponent with his enormous strength?
-
What more do you want as a reason? I'd much rather have Shelley than Laraque, for the reasons that I outlined in my previous post above. If the guy has a short fight card, I could care less how good a fighter he is. An enforcer exists to stick up for his teammates and to throw weight around when they have to. It's not all about showcasing how great a fighter you are, since hockey is a team sport. That's why a guy like say, Clark Gillies, was a phenomenal fighter, but I'd never go so far as to call him a great enforcer due to his low number of fights. As for Downey, I haven't seen enough of him this year in the NHL to judge him as a fighter or enforcer.
-
I was going to answer Doggy's post before I read yours. You are spot on. Shelley is not a better fighter than Laraque, but he's a much better enforcer. He fights more often and sticks up for his teammates more often. That's what an enforcer is supposed to do. Granted it's not all Laraque's fault, since he has a harder time finding takers. However, Joey Kocur was probably the most feared fighter ever, and yet he still had a ton of fights every year, so there's a counter argument for a counter argument here. I've just never seen Laraque as anything more than a strong wrester who manhandles people, but fights infrequently.
-
Shelley is not that much a better fighter than Downey. Both are past their prime. Laraque is not a good enforcer. He hardly ever fights. Downey didn't do anything detrimental last year in his own zone or in taking stupid penalties, but you've gone on for 4 pages telling us all about what a huge liability Downey will be. Apparently you have some huge dislike for enforcers who take stupid penalties, and that's fine. However, it isn't fair to throw Downey in there, because I haven't seen him do any such thing in Detroit. You just have some paranoia about enforcers, and you'll probably be the first person screaming with joy if Downey drops the gloves in his next game. That's just how it works here on LGW.
-
That's because Travis Moen KO'd his ass several years ago, and deterred Weber from fighting often.
-
If that's true, then Sheldon Souray should be selling ice cream to children in some park somewhere. Good post.
