Conklin embarassed Lilja. Wrap-around goals shouldn't happen in today's NHL with the goalies being as good as they are. Conklin just looked lost on that play, like he has all year. Lilja was afraid to touch Eager for fear of the refs calling another penalty.- 1,043 replies

I can't believe Bill McQueery made that call against Lilja for roughing. This isn't basketball. This is hockey, a sport for real men. Maybe they're trying to appeal to dumb, American audiences or something.- 1,043 replies

Ty "The Clown" Conklin is embarrassing the Wings today on national TV. He's let in 2 bad goals already.- 1,043 replies

Probably that 7-0 beating of Colorado in 2002. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but last year's triple-overtime disaster against the Pens comes to mind also. I guess that's one we'd like to forget, but it was still a memorable game, even if it was for the wrong reasons.
-
The fact that he's not scoring is not surprising, unless he was a regular on the top 2 lines. I think the thing to remember is that next year Hossa will be gone, and we don't know yet about Hank and Mule. At that point, Flip will become more important to this team. However, there's still no telling how he'll perform then.
-
Wow, I guess you really simplified your avatar from what it used to be. Oh and whoever was complaining about the Wings not fighting the Hawks, just ask Patrick Sharp's face how scared Wings players are to fight against him. And Kane couldn't beat his own d***, so I don't know why he's acting tough all of a sudden.
-
I meant for the final seconds of the game. Now do you get it?
-
Actually, despite being injured, he had a great series and was arguably our best player. He should have been on the ice for both sentimental and strategic reasons. How's that for your logic? Last I remember, Pavel and Shanny did nothing in that series to be on the ice then.
-
That makes no sense as an explanation. He should have been on the ice at that moment to help the team that he captained for so many years.
-
If that's what you said, then yes I agree. I was just worried that you were suggesting Lilja should sit. We can't have that around here.
-
Who cares? Chelli isn't just from the Chicago area, he also played for their team, and is a legend. I don't think Hawks fans give a damn about seeing Lebda out there on the ice.
-
Chelios is not some fan we're advocating to be in the game. He's a part of this team and he needs to get work in to make up for all the time he's missed. If this is a real game, Lebda and Kopecky should sit.
-
It would be a classless move by Babcock to sit him. Kind of like keeping Yzerman on the bench for his final shift against Edmonton in 2006. Chelli is the greatest American born player ever, playing in an outdoor nationally televised game, against his former team, in a stadium he's probably went to numerous times as a kid, in what could be his final season. Nothing wrong with sitting Lebda (yeah I know he's also from Chicago, but if we sit Lilja who will fight?) and putting Chelli in his place. He needs to get in as many games as needed to get back into shape.

As if we need another reason to want to crush San Jose
GMRwings1983 replied to Antilles328's topic in General
This is stupid for San Jose to sign this old geezer who hasn't played in many years. Why don't the Wings go after Probert? Hell, he's about the same age as Lemieux. -
I'm tired of seeing Meech playing at forward. How is this helping his development as a defenseman when he's played forward all season when he's in the lineup? This injury to Sammy is the perfect opportunity to give Downey a shot to kick some ass and give this team some much needed energy. Instead, we dress another undersized forward. Also, if Lidstrom does come back, Chelli should still play in the Winter Classic, being from Chicago and all.
-
Downey and McCarty on the same line to stir s*** up. Maybe then the team would play with some fire and passion for every game. Right now the 4th line isn't providing that fire and passion. This team is coming out with lazy starts at the beginning of games. Also, I'm in favor of increasing Ozzie and Conklin's equipment size to improve their pitiful goaltending.
-
I agree. Reading over his post, he didn't say anything other than the obvious. Lidstrom has had more injuries of late than we've ever come to expect of him.
-
Thanks for the info on Lidstrom guys. I used to think he was inhuman when it came to injuries, but we found out otherwise last season. I hope he'll be healthy by the time of the Winter Classic.
-
I just started watching the game to find out that Lidstrom is hurt. So who injured him? I want that man dead. Time for Lilja to enforce someone's ass.
-
Ask Sheldon Souray and Jared Boll what Lilja could do in a fight, and then come back at me with this David Backes crap. That poor kid is just trying to be tougher than what he really is. Kind of like Blues fans. Nothing but a bunch of tin-horn thugs worshipping a last place team that doesn't appear to be improving at all. Who knows, maybe in 20 years the Blues will have a better team than Detroit. I guess based on that, you still have some hope.
