Trying to teach Wings fans about the value of an enforcer is like trying to teach little kids about the value of reading Shakespeare. There's no point to it. How can you argue against idiots who claim that Downey is a useless player, just because he doesn't put up points? It's hopeless. I wonder if any Wings player actually agrees with some of the B.S. the anti-enforcer crowd is spewing about Downey and enforcers in general?

I'm guessing the last time you saw the Wings play was in 2002. Our 4th line has done nothing all year, either statistically or from a physicality standpoint. 2 of those guys are players I love, but at this point they really have no value other than sentimental value. The talent is gone.

The offense was unable to bail Ozzie's sorry ass out of this game. Raycroft made all the big saves even though they were outshot, while Ozzie couldn't stop any of the big ones. Also, the line combinations didn't work out very well. The 4th line was awful and Flip looked invisible out there. Where's Chelios at? Did he play so bad last game that Lebda had to come in and make some bonehead plays to help us lose this game?

I wasn't attacking any one poster, nor the fact that they're a Sharks fan (which I didn't even know) but was calling out anyone in general who makes this PP deterrent argument. You're the one who needs to relax, and it's probably not a good idea to take a sedative right after a beer. Great post. People automatically assume that our 4th line is full of great contributors. So far it hasn't been that way this season. I love Draper and Maltby but they haven't been cutting it. As for Kopecky, well you know that story. Not all enforcers are pylons out there. Some of them put up as good a numbers as any 4th line Euro playing in the league who can handle the puck well, but can't score. There's plenty of those.

How long have you been a fan of the KHL? When teams start playing dirty, that means the game is usually out of hand already, meaning that they don't give a damn about the PP. Why do our fans consistently have to defend the lack of fighting with this s***ty argument about the PP being the enforcer? You guys should go watch basketball instead if you really believe this crap.

I love dirty players but I hate Pronger. And don't call him a goon, because he's not really much of a fighter for his size.

I still don't understand how the OP is trying to prove that Stuart is apparently a harder hitter than Lucic or Chara or any other guy in the league? How do you prove that, and how do you expect us to know who hits harder? Just because some puss like Tanguay didn't come back into the game doesn't mean Stuart hits harder or better than anyone else. Kariya came back after Stevens leveled him, and I'm quite sure that must have been a hard hit. Why would the OP ask people a question, and then get mad when the answer was something he didn't agree with? He should have instead titled the thread: "Stuart is the best hitter in the league". Then he wouldn't come off sounding so damn silly.

Have you interviewed the players Stuart hit to judge the hardness of his hits? Your argument is one that can't be proven by mere video evidence. This isn't a video game we're talking about.

Doug Murray, Dustin Brown, Phaneuf, Chara, Lucic, Orpik, Ovechkin, Volchenkov, Hunter....... do you really want me to go on sweethart, because I can do this all day?

There's too many good hitters in this league to even put Stuart on the list of best hitters. He's the best hitter on the Wings, but that's not saying much when you consider how few truly great checkers we have at this point. That's not the Wings style. I'm guessing your question was more of an embellishment rather than what you believe. At least I hope so.

Maybe you should start a thread talking about how we explicitly don't need enforcers, and how you're tired of all the "we need an enforcer talk". You're the expert in starting those type of threads, King Crymson. As far as I go, you know where I stand on this, and I'm not going to change my mind, nor should I.
