Too many shots from bad angles right now. Everyone is too lazy right now to go to the net with the puck. We're not going to score unless we get a good chance in close.
-
Pavel and Hank both would have higher number by playing together, but they've obviously had to sacrifice that. Hudler better be scoring if he's going to be on the PP with such talent around him.

Did the Wings screw this up or is it too early to tell?

LA has some talent, but not that kind of talent. I don't see the connection. -

Fair enough, but at the end of the season it's doubtful that I'll see someone like Lebda as being more useful than Quincey. -
At the risk of being called an anti-fighter, I'm going to say that I would never make that deal if I was Holland.

Guess what? If Ericsson is nothing more than a #6 defenseman, he's not going to put up very many points either. Based on that rationale, we should let Ericsson go also, since he'll never get much of a chance here behind the big 4 as everyone is calling them. And not every defenseman can put up points from playing 20 minutes a night, so that's an errand argument on your part. There are defensemen on this team now who are more expendable than Quincey was, even when he was traded. His recent play only strengthens that notion for me. -
What can he do that Kopecky can't?
-
It figures. A Wings player beats someone in a fight and even our own fans are unhappy about it. Would you rather have seen Hudler take on Souray? The fact that Souray is a hugger who's afraid to open up is not Lilja's fault. He found room to put in a punch, and he landed it.

The problem with the ice time argument is that many people here never expected Quincey to put up these kinds of numbers, even if the Wings gave him 20 minutes a night. I never thought he was capable of putting up a high number of points, and always thought of him more as a solid defensive defenseman at full potential. I don't know, it's just something to think about I guess. -
What drugs were you on during the fight? Lilja did land that punch, and it was the only real punch of the fight. Yes, I know that Souray was not carted away on an ambulance but the fact is that Lilja still won the fight, and prolonged his undefeated streak.
-
Why has this thread turned into a Probert thread when we should instead be praising Lilja for sticking up for his teammates yesterday and dropping Souray on his fat ass? Show some respect for the current resident enforcer and not dwell so much on the past.
-
Another clear win for Lilja. People have complained that he wins his fights without even throwing punches, but he bided his time and then BOOM!! he dropped Souray like a sack of potatoes. Poor Sheldon still hasn't gotten the license plate of that truck that connected with his face at the end of that fight. That's what he gets for trying to hug Lilja instead of fight him. So who's gonna be Lilja's next *****?

Good argument, but Lidstrom is better than Bourque. The points Bourque had were inflated from playing in the 80's. Look at a guy like Phil Housley who had well over 1,000 points, or a guy like Paul Coffey who had even more than Housley. Do you think those 2 guys are better than Lidstrom also just because they have more points? I'll take 6 Norris trophies and 4 Cups over 3 Norris trophies and 1 Cup any day. Also, it's not like Lidstrom has been competing against nobodies for Norrises. Pronger and Niedermayer are both hall of famers, and guys like Zubov, Gonchar and Chara are no slouches either. The fact that Lidstrom at this age is still winning trophies proves to me that he's been better for a longer time than Bourque has. Yet you somehow claim that Bourque has better longevity. How many Norris trophies did Bourque win in his late 30's? These arguments are probably fruitless because both guys have arguments on their side, but I think Listrom's ability to play better with age and his defensive awareness put him above Bourque in my book.

Gaborik, and the whole team for that matter, have been playoff busts the last few years because of their inability to score goals. This team shouldn't scare anybody except for the viewers that have to watch their boring style of play.
-
I'd love to see Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Hossa on the same line for at least several shifts every game, just to scare the other team s***less. That'd be something to see.
-
I just hope we never have to use Draper on shootouts. Everytime I see him on a breakaway, I immediately know that he's going to shoot the puck wide.
-
In order to become a great all-around defenseman, he's going to have to learn how to shoot better, because his goal output has always been low. At this point, he's a good defenseman, but I'd like to see him go one step higher and become great.

You basically just described Kopecky. Good post. -

How does McCarty hinder our winning? We can both win and fight, and from hearing the fans last night, they didn't seem to mind McCarty's actions against Stortini. -
It was a very creative thing to post. However, how have you managed to avoid getting banned from this site through all of your constant outbursts and personal attacks? I only ask because I want to try some of the same stuff without worrying about repercussions.

That's exactly how I would have acted if I met Steve Yzerman. I would have bowed down to him because I'm not worthy of looking him in the eye when speaking to him.

Who cares? This isn't the KHL. He can do some things that those guys can't do. If I have to explain what those things are then there's no point in arguing with you. The pain is that some of us actually enjoy fights (this isn't baseball ), and Mac was the only one providing it this season. His job is strictly to fight. If he can't skate well, can't score, can't walk and chew gum at the same time, it still doesn't matter to me. He's the only one doing anything remotely physical out there. This team has too many guys not cutting it right now, and Mac isn't one of those guys. He's actually doing his job. -
Hopefully one day someone will send him away on a stretcher. And yes, I do mean it, and no I'm not a horrible person for wishing it upon someone like him.

F***ing figures. Only guy on the team right now willing to scrap, and he gets waived. Sometimes it's just painful to be a Wings fan. Hopefully, they'll call up Downey and prove me wrong. -
Which justifies the worrying. The day this team and the fans lower their expectations, is the day the Wings' dominance will end. Thus, since people are complaining, that means the team is still good enough that people are expecting championships from it every year. Thus, everyone should keep complaining because that's a good thing.
