Penguins swap Sydor to Stars for Boucher

Boucher had a career year a few years ago, but he's fallen of the earth since then. Neither team gained nor lost anything in this deal.

Blues lose McDonald to fractured leg

Blues fans would be cheering if that happened to one of our guys, so even though it sucks for him, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

All-Star Voting shenanigans by Habs fans.

I'm all for it. I want to see Robert Lang in the all-star game.

    Does Anyone Else Miss Dom?

I didn't think I'd say this before the season, but I do miss him. Ozzie hasn't done good as a full-time starter, especially since he knows Conklin is no threat to take his job. Last year Ozzie was the underdog, and that's a role he's always been better at filling than being a full-time starter. Thus, I miss Hasek only because he provided some competitive edge to Osgood, which is no longer there.

    Zetterberg, 50 goals?

If he stays healthy, maybe. However, he hasn't proven that he can stay healthy throughout the season, so I say probably not.

    Barry Melrose fired

Their record really isn't that bad for this point in the season, but I guess they for some reason expected more out of the season than what they've gotten. I can't see him getting any other jobs in the future as a head coach.

    Lidstrom calls himself out

Lidstrom should speak for himself, because Lilja has been damn near perfect this season and shouldn't be thrown into the mix of players who need to play better. He's been a beast defensively and hasn't lost a fight all year. What more do you want from your top tough guy?

    Fighting Instigator Suspension

Stupid rule by a stupid league. If Bettman doesn't like having fights in hockey, why doesn't he just go back to working for the NBA? Nothing wrong with gooning it up at the end of games. It has existed before in hockey, and should exist again. This way the fans stay until the end of the game, even in a blowout.

    Burke out as Ducks' GM

Time for Holland to resign, so that the dark side can take over.

    Most Boring Champions

This guy is either a divealanche fan or a reject. Those 2 things usually go hand in hand.

When is the bashing of players going to end?

What a silly, naive thread. What's the point of having a forum if we can't bash players? Should we just come here every day to talk about how great and perfect every player is, and nostalgicly reminisce about how we won all those Cups?

11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

I agree that the officiating was suspect, but that's no excuse for blowing a lead the way the Wings did. BTW, who's the girl in your avatar?

No Doubt: It's a Cup Hangover

There's too much cute play going on right now, and not enough physicality. The result of that is inevitable. We score many goals and make many pretty plays, but are too lazy to do any of the dirty work, which results in many goals given up defensively. This team needs to go back to working hard like they did last year in the playoffs. Not having Chelios, Drake or Downey has only made this team less gritty and there are less guys out there playing tough minded hockey. Also, Drapes and Maltby haven't been themselves this year, which makes things even worse.

I now realize that the real reason we lost may be because Sammy hardly took any shots on goal. Hell has frozen over!

where, oh where has our defense gone?

Fire McCrimmon and hire Uwe Krupp as our defensive coach. Problem solved.

11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

None were soft, but some were definitely stoppable. He went down too early on 2 of the goals, and he didn't appear to be screened on the Malkin goal. Likewise, he didn't play the OT goal properly. Some people here will never criticize Ozzie no matter what. A game where the other team scores 7 is a good example of that.

11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

It is in a way. Ozzie played better when there was some competition for the starting job. Now there is none.

    The Pittsburgh Penguins...

I'm just pissed that they always score on us when they pull the goalie. That's 3 goals in the last 3 games with the goalie pulled.

11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

Why? He would have scored a clutch goal in OT to bail us out of an embarassing loss.

11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

Which one? Last year's, or the one in 97? It's a new season, so there's no reason to bring up past successes as an excuse for present failures.
  21. What's so surprising about people being disappointed over losing in such an embarassing way in a televised game? If people werent' complaining, I'd be scared that the world had turned over on its axis. And enough of this 2008 talk. This is a new season and the players need to realize it. Otherwise, we could miss the playoffs the next 5 years in a row, and still talk about the 4 Cups that we won. That's not the way to go.

11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

Well, I don't sit on the fence. Everyone is lazy and they all suck. Fire Datsyuk, fire Lidstrom, fire Zetterberg, fire....well you get the picture.
  23. He's a great offensive player, and a subpar defensive player. You have to take the good with the bad with him. With Lidstrom not playing up to his level this year, Rafalski has looked even worse than usual on defense.
  24. GMRwings1983

11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

If that's true, our defense is worse than I thought. Fact is, he has played poorly this season, and giving up 5 goals after the 2nd period isn't going to dispel any doubts about him. All we needed was one extra save from him, and we never got it.

I realize that Zigomanis (whomever the hell he is) is apparently good on draws, but how did Drapes and Hank become chopped liver all of a sudden on faceoffs? We couldn't win any big draws at all at the end of the game. And what's the deal with Rafalski? He looked like he had a few beers before this game. No orientation or coordination whatsover from him. Too many pucks skipped by his stick.
