Well, that didn't take long. Five games into the season, and we already have a top 6 forward hurt and a top 4 d-man. Let's hope there won't be any more setbacks. Other people are just going to have to step up and stop jerking around like they've been doing so far.

Any lineup with Downey in it. 5 games and 0 fights is not a good reflection on our toughness.

I'd love to see how him and Franzen work out playing together. People always assume that 2 great players can always have chemistry together if you give them time, but that isn't always true. Datsyuk and Hossa just seem to be off right now, and maybe a change is needed. Trying him together with Hank also wouldn't be a bad idea.

That's nothing. I own a Yuri Butsayev jersey that I wear to every Wings game. I rotate it with my Ladislav Kohn Wings jersey on other nights.

I was going to post something about this, because Greg Johnson is still listed as a prospect in the minors. When was the last time he played in Detroit?

Thornton dropped the ball in this fight. He had Laraque down early in the fight in a position where he could have punched that dumb wrestler into the next world. Instead, he did the gentlemanly thing by letting Laraque get up so that he could wrestle Thornton into the bench.

It's time to get rid of all these star players and start rebuilding with lots of cap space available. We've been too good for too long and a change in needed. -
He's definitely the greatest enforcer ever. I don't think anyone can say for sure that he's the best fighter ever, because he had several bad losses in his career, and I can think of several top fighters who never had the kinds of losses that he had. However, the sheer amount of fights, and all the wars that he had, plus the fact that he avenged most of his losses makes him the best pure enforcer ever in my book.

Wow, that article makes Ilitch out to be a major *******. That's exactly why he needs to give his side of the story on this, because it really is weird that he has acted so secretively about the whole matter. It's hard to defend his actions, and the fact that Aurie is not in the HOF is not a good enough reason to remove his number if you ask me.

Ilitch should at least have the guts to explain why he did it, but for some reason he hasn't.

No way Ozzie is the 2nd best goalie in the league. You had several guys behind him that are better than he is. The Cups he's won don't matter in this discussion, since no one was asking about all-time ranking, but was instead ranking goalies based on current ability.

Fighting doesn't help his defensive game but it helps in other areas. Besides, I'd rather have physical defensemen who can't score rather than non-physical guys who can't score. Lebda falls under the latter description. -

We never traded Quincey. I would have rather seen Lebda leave, but apparently he can skate fast which helps his offensive game, thus he's on the team instead. -

This will break the hearts of all the hapless Hudler homers at LGW. Fact is, the only time he's ever looked good in his career was with Darren Helm on the 4th line last year. Maybe Helm needs to get called up to recreate some of that magic once more. -
Datsyuk and Hossa look like Ben and J-Lo right now. No chemistry whatsoever. Hopefully, Hossa can create some magic if he plays with Franzen.
