    10/5 GDT: Red Wings 3, Sabres 0

Downey just embarassed himself there. Peters gave him a cheapshot and challenged him, and there was no reason to decline. Lilja would have killed Peters in that situation. Pathetic showing by Downey. If he still wants to be an enforcer he better make up for that embarassment.

It wasn't stupid. Sammy is just toughening up. I understand that Roy is a wuss, but you've got to start somewhere.

I've never been so proud of Sammy before in my life. I believe he's turning into a real tough Canadian boy. Don't know why the ref called a penalty though. Roy was clearly acting.

    Top Six D Set

Ericsson should replace Lebda. I want to see the "Swedish towers of power" back there at the same time. No one will mess with us then.

    Roster prob solved!

There were no insults anywhere in my post. I was just merely pointing out the irony of the original post. Thus, look through my post and show me where the insult was. If people don't like the way I operate there's always something called the "ignore list".

Ah, I get it. You're one of those unapproachable women. Oh well, I guess I can't win them all.

    Blackhawks Recent Organizational Changes

They have a good young team, but a lack of veteran presence which will hurt them in the clutch. It's ideal to have some kind of balance, as underdog teams have shown in the past. You can't just be all youth and expect to go deep into the playoffs.

    No Repeat

Clement is just basing this on recent history with Cup winners. Even the Ducks last year struggled, despite the fact that their team was still great on paper. I don't agree with Clement, but history supports his position. Look at what happened to the Wings in 2003. Who says we can't run into a hot goalie again? The fact that it's tough to repeat is not a myth, it's a fact.

    Chelios out 3-6 weeks (tibia)

He's not exactly the quickest guy in the league, so an injury is the last thing that he needed at his age. The team, however, will be fine. Other than Lidstrom, we can afford a hit to any other defenseman, as long as multiple guys don't get hurt.

Wow, another poster trying to bait me into a flame war. Nice try dude, but I've run out of my lifelines so I'll just let you pass and ignore you since you're probably not worth it anyway.

Hey, I'd definitely make a move on you and on the younger lady standing next to you.

Bah. What does Clement know about repeating as champions?

    Roster prob solved!

Sweden is part of Europe and is included in "Scandinavia". You might as well name the entire team "Sweden", and make them wear yellow and blue as their 3rd jersey.

So, I hear Lilja won another fight. How many consecutive wins does that make now?

Final Forward Spot: Skill or Muscle?

If you're saying that enforcers should only be on the roster if they are one of the 12 leading scoring forwards on the team, then enforcers would practically become extinct around the entire league. Their job isn't to score, and their usefullness shouldn't be compared in terms of points. Do any of our 4th liners have as many fighting majors as Downey? No, they don't. It's all about needing the proper balance. That's why I think it makes more sense for the Wings to dress enforcers than any other team, because we have so much skill up front, that we're not losing anything by taking away scorers off the 4th line, who aren't going to play many minutes anyway. Three scoring lines is more than what anyone else has, thus a 4th line with some gritty players and fighters isn't going to hurt anybody, except for the other team.

Final Forward Spot: Skill or Muscle?

Fine, then we should remove Kopecky from the lineup instead of Hudler or Sammy. No one can make a valid argument for his usefullness on the roster. No feathers can be ruffled with that decision.

Final Forward Spot: Skill or Muscle?

We need a big, Canadian goon who has a history of dirty play and cheapshots. Preferably a guy who will score 2 points all season, but rack up 300 PIM's and break people's faces along the way. Leave the scoring to the skilled players. If Hudler and Sammy want to play, they'll just have to wait for the playoffs or for an injury. Otherwise, they can learn how to fight. I hope this answers the OP's question.

No TV Timeouts after icings this year

Great, now Nashville fans won't have any time to celebrate after an icing.

    Claude Lemieux

I would hate to see some horrible injury happen to him while he's on his comeback trail. Hopefully he won't break his neck or anything like that.

Downey contrite after he injures Filppula

That's because Sammy was on thin ice already. That was the icing on the cake. Downey has not done anything wrong the whole time he's been here. Also, his job is to hit people and play tough. Sammy's job description has never included missing shots off of people's faces.

When considering the final forward spots....

Sammy is a horrible human being who tortures newborn animals. Also, he's a card-carrying communist. Anyone want to top this comment?

    Pictures of Lidstroms House

I'm not impressed. I bet Lilja's house looks twice as cool.

When considering the final forward spots....

There's a difference between decent and phenomenal. Phenomenal would be someone like Jere Lehtinen or Guy Carbonneau. Since you used that word, maybe you should explain how he's "phenomenal" as opposed to just average or even good defensively.
  24. GMRwings1983

    hmm interesting

That would be interesting. Of course, him and Godard would have to compete in essence for the same job. I think this would be a good way for Godard to prove that he is indeed a capable heavy in this league. Of course, I'm still not condoning that we should under any circumstances get rid of Lilja.

Wow, guys, this must be a popular day for ridiculous overstatements.
