Why should it wear off? Are you suggesting we should go after more soft players just because this group won the Stanley cup? Wellwood is soft and inconsistent. We don't need him on this team because those aren't the guys anyone would want on their team. Don't expect Babcock to make something out of nothing with every player who comes here.

Let's face it. Jokinen is not a guy that can produce in the playoffs. As I've said before, the man has scored 0 points in his playoff career. Is that the kind of guy you'd like to have on your team in the clutch?

A lot of what he's saying is somewhat true. If the Wings loved Pavel and Hank so much, why didn't they draft them higher? Also, look at some of the stiffs we've drafted in the past. You win some and lose some. However, I still think the Wings scouts are better than anyone else's, but luck certainly has a lot to do with it. It's the most important thing you can have in life, because often times it will be mistaken for greatness. Here's to more luck in the future.

The 19th overall pick is a mystery to everyone. Umberger is a young guy who just came off a great playoff year scoring over 10 goals. I still say it's a curious trade by Philly.

That's what I was thinking. Florida is notorious for making bad trades, but it's not like Jokinen has them going into the playoffs every year either. They're just one of those franchises that can do nothing right. But Boynton and Ballard are two guys which have so far not amounted to that much. Another bizzarre trade.

I think this is a dumb trade by Philly. Umberger had a great playoff for them last year. Why would you trade a guy who appears to be a good clutch player, for a bunch of draft picks?

Does anyone besides me realize that the Wings aren't picking 1st overall in the draft? It seems like too many posters here assume that our #1 pick is somehow incredibly valuable. I know this thread was started just for fun, but I honestly can't think of any decent players anyone would give us for our late 1st round pick. I would love to have another enforcer here, but I know Holland won't go that route.

I doubt it. Floppa has never had to carry a team all by himself before, so who's to say he would have done any better in Philly than Lindros did? Hindsight is 20/20, and people quickly forget how great Lindros was at one time, and how hyped he was coming into the NHL. Lindros was more hyped than any player that has entered the league since then, including Crosby. He was billed as the big, physical version of Gretzky. The Flyers didn't do anything wrong by getting him in my opinion. Once again I'll mention that if not for those unforeseen concussion problems, Lindros would go down as an all-time great.

Lindros was the best player in the world for many years, and if not for his injuries, would be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. I fail to see how that was a bad trade for the Flyers.

Yes. At least there's great players on both sides for that trade. Here, Cammalleri is a good 1st liner in LA, but Malkin is one of the 5 best players in the league. It's not a fair trade.
