I doubt it. Floppa has never had to carry a team all by himself before, so who's to say he would have done any better in Philly than Lindros did? Hindsight is 20/20, and people quickly forget how great Lindros was at one time, and how hyped he was coming into the NHL. Lindros was more hyped than any player that has entered the league since then, including Crosby. He was billed as the big, physical version of Gretzky. The Flyers didn't do anything wrong by getting him in my opinion. Once again I'll mention that if not for those unforeseen concussion problems, Lindros would go down as an all-time great.
-
Lindros was the best player in the world for many years, and if not for his injuries, would be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. I fail to see how that was a bad trade for the Flyers.
-
Yes. At least there's great players on both sides for that trade. Here, Cammalleri is a good 1st liner in LA, but Malkin is one of the 5 best players in the league. It's not a fair trade.
-
This would go down as the worst trade in NHL history. Bar none.

Direction the Wings should take in the Draft.

I was talking about getting toughness for the regular season. I don't have a problem with benching enforcers come playoff time, unless we're playing some dirty team, which we didn't really have to face this year in the playoffs. The Downey thing worked out well this year, so I believe we should do that again, only with a better enforcer than Downey. -
But doesn't that depth you allude to mean that he's somewhat expendable?
-
Meszaros isn't as good as Bouwmeester, and Spezza isn't as good as Jokinen. That would be a good trade for Ottawa more so than Florida.
-
I don't either. I'd rather have Kopecky, who can skate in circles and get knocked down 10 times a game like a big clown. He's way more valuable to a team.
-
Sundin gives us a right handed shot that we don't have (with all disrespect intended at Sammy), and he's motivated to win his first Cup, which will rub off on the rest of the team. Plus, he's Swedish, which will mold well with the rest of the team. Oh and don't forget. He's better than Rolston is.
-
Or hang himself if this decision is so excruciating for him. This drama queen had enough press as it was last year with his decision making.
-
Babcock doesn't rate Hudler very highly either. That's why he keeps him on the 4th line.
-
Florida has made so many stupid trades over the years, but that would by far be the worst. They would get a useless player and a 4th liner, plus a late 1st round pick, for a top line forward like Jokinen. They'll never go for it, but I think it's comical how some people here on LGW wouldn't make this trade if Florida put it on the table. Some of the members here just crack me up with their overrating of Kopecky.

I hope they both retire. I lost respect for both those idiots after their unprofessional behavior last year. The league is better off without guys like that.

I don't think even the Wings expected Datsyuk or Zetterberg to turn out so great. That's why they picked those guys so low, instead of making them 1st round picks. -
I have a thing for cute blondes with glasses.

Are you saying we wouldn't have won if we had them playing? Drake will be gone, and McCarty and Downey will likely not be full-time players. Plus, injuries are only inevitable. I want to see more toughness and fighting in the regular season, because regular seasons for the Wings are usually boring and mean nothing until the playoffs begin. It's just purely for entertainment value. Nothing wrong with that. -
I wish Lebda played as tough and mean as he parties. Then we might have a real player on our hands.

We need big, strong Canadian forwards who can fight. We have enough talent as it is, so it's not like more grit is going to hurt our team. -
How about getting rid of the instigator rule? This isn't the NBA for crying out loud.
-
Make that 10. You forgot Fedorov.

Hull and Robitaille merely played for the Wings. No one ever thinks of them as Wings, as in the sense of being legendary members of the franchise. That's like saying that Wayne Gretzky was the greatest player ever to play for the Blues.

Anyone else interested in the Jackets' offseason?

They're the Arizona Cardinals of the NHL. Every year someone picks them to finally make the playoffs, and every year they make someone look stupid by sucking again. I'm not going to bite on that hook again. -
Funny how Brett Hull got pushed forward to next year just because of those several games that he played for the Coyotes since the lockout, even though he retired a few weeks into the season. If not for that, he would have been inducted last year most likely.

It's a preference, not some hard-fast rule. Besides, exceptions can be made for unusual circumstances such as yours.
