I've said this before, but the Wings get too much credit for being able to draft well. Don't forget that every team (including the Wings) passed up on guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg, because even the Wings chose several players in those years' drafts over those 2 guys. The same thing with Lidstrom, because he wasn't the Wings first choice either. There have been a lot of guys the team drafted that turned out to be busts also, meaning that we could have gotten better players, who instead went to other teams. Drafting is just one of those hit or miss things.

I don't think Cleary should get any more slack. He's had enough time to get into the thick of things. He has only 1 goal in the playoffs so far, and that was a fluke goal no less. Yeah, he's playing hard, but with this injury to Franzen we need someone else to step up, and so far in this series, we've been a one line team.

Exactly. Dallas is a weak minded team that wouldn't need any reasons to fold the tent. Instead, they scored first, and played hard the rest of the game. My proposal is that all goals waved off due to Holmstrom should be reviewed. That's at least 2 games we've lost this year because of that.

The longer this series goes, the less our chances are of beating Pittsburgh. I expect them to sweep tonight, and I don't want a young and rested team sitting around waiting for the Wings.

I've been awake now since 8, and have posted here several times today, but only now did I realize that we still have to play Dallas tomorrow. From reading some of the other topics and things being posted here today, it appears that many people have forgotten it also, and share my confusion. I understand that you have to win 4 games to win a series, but it still feels anti-climactic that we should play them again, since everyone is already looking towards the finals and Dallas looks finished. The game tomorrow just seems like some ritual that must be done even though it makes no sense to have to do it. Can't the league just step in and call this game off? I think Dallas wouldn't mind, especially after what happened to the divealanche in game 4 of that series.

How do you guys know whether Franzen will play in game 5?

That doesn't prove anything. Like I said in that post, we're just going through a ritual since we'll eventually win. Dallas will quit the moment something goes against them. In this game they didn't have to, since they got the lead first thanks to the refs. Besides, how could anyone have guessed that the refs were going to go to such extremes to cost us a game. But ahh, now I realize it, my original post somehow resulted in karma, which in turn resulted in Bettman telling the refs to blow the game for us. Now it all makes sense to me.

Our season is over. I'm going to go root for the Ducks now.

But we're still going to win the series. I started the thread because us winning was academic and inevitable. If you think that I'm destroying superstitions with that statement, then you should tell everyone predicting us to win in game 5 to refrain from typing anything.

Superstitions are a personal thing. You guys make it sound like I made fun of some posters' religion or something. No one has to like the post. The fact that it was made was my own choice, and had no effect on anyone else's choice. NFM, you're chasing wild geese here.
