San Jose played harder and better and their series than what Dallas is doing in this one. That was a different story. My post just had to do with the fact that many, mysefl included, think the series is already over, and that many of the posts I saw today made me wonder whether anyone even remembers that there's yet another game to be played against Dallas. For instance, there's already a thread going about our matchup potential against the Penguins, and how others think we'll do against them. It just feels anti-climactic after last night's game.

I hope the team doesn't have the same mindset that I have, and I know they won't. I'm just saying, and I'm not the only one who feels this way, that it appears to everyone that the series is over, and only until a few hours ago did I realize that there's still at least 1 more game officially to be played. It just feels kind of weird.

No, because Ozzie would have never outplayed Roy the way Hasek did. Don't be fooled by what happened in the playoffs this year. Hasek back then was still an elite goalie who was hungry for a Stanley Cup and was great in the clutch. Ozzie meanwhile tanked every year in the playoffs for us against Colorado. We needed Hasek that year to win the Cup, and especially that series.

The 4th game is always the easiest to win for the Red Wings. Just try to remember the last time we didn't. And ask Colorado just how hard it was for the Wings to win the 4th game in their last series. Dallas is done, and all they can try to do is prolong the inevitable.

Bettman is the happiest guy in the world knowing that these two teams are going to play each other.

My sources tell me that Steve Yzerman is the frontrunner right now for this job. Darren McCarty is also rumored to be contemplating retirement, to join their staff as Yzerman's assistant.
-
Sakic should retire and coach their team. He's well respected and liked, and he looked done as a player after that series against the Wings.
-
I agree. Lidstrom in number 3 right now behind Orr and Harvey. No way Shore should be up there. Those players that played in the first half of the century did influence the game greatly, but to put them in the top 10 or top 5 on any list is just silly.
-
That might be it, but it's still not something I usually see other players do, so it must be some ritual, since hockey players are often weird like that.

Fillpulla does looks soft on the puck. Guys like Pavel and Hank are the same size as him, and they play strong physically, while he just takes one hit, and then the puck is taken away from him. He needs to toughen up with his positioning and determination.
-
It was NHL 2000, and I remember that he was actually decent in that game. I guess the game's makers assumed that because of his size, he must be a big physical checker or something.

But you're omitting Yan Golubovsky. I dare you to outdo that name.

I've been waiting for this matchup for a month now, right around the time I knew we'd play Colorado and Dallas, which are two teams I knew we'd sweep. This, however, won't be as easy a matchup. Their powerplay might be the best the league has seen since the Penguins teams of the early 90's. They have several lines that can score, and unlike Dallas and Philly, they're a team that won't settle for anything short of the Stanley Cup. They're young and hungry. With the injury to Franzen, I'm worried about our secondary scoring against these guys. Also, we don't ever play them, so the matchups are kind of hard to predict. This is going to be a tough series, especially if Pittburgh gets many powerplay opportunities. I still think, however, that our defense is way better than theirs, and that should be the difference.

You're forgetting Bykov.

Someone should do this to Steve Ott in game 4
GMRwings1983 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
True. But it's fun to see Ott getting his ass handed to him by a Wings legend like Cross. Maybe Lilja can play in game 4 and recreate that fight. -
Damn! All my favorite playoff choking coaches are being fired from the Western Conference. This isn't good for the Wings' future.

Like I posted earlier, neither him nor any other player on their team has ever had any success against us. We own their team in every way. Maybe their fans can now go watch Dallas Cowboys mini-camps since that's all they care about anyway.
-
I'm better than that. I predicted us to sweep Colorado too. And people here call me a pessimist.
-
The hell they're not. This series ended before it began, when I predicted another sweep.
-
There isn't one player on the Stars roster who's ever had any success against us in the past. They're afraid of the Wings and we're in their head.
-
Richards can stick his Conn Smythe trophy up his ass, because that's all it's been good for since he won it. He's overrated.
-
Wings own Turco. That's all you need to know about him right there.
-
We have to sweep this series, because that's exactly what I expect Pittburgh to do. I don't want them sitting around waiting for the Wings to finish up our series. We're the team to beat in the West, and Dallas has already exceeded any expectations they had before the season.
