Once again America is showing how much it hates hockey. If it was the NBA playoffs, this s*** would never happen.

Last year the Wings were a lot more physical in the playoffs. This year they've done nothing physical as a team, other than game 5 where we outhit Nashville in my opinion. Physicality is a mentality, and we're not as physical as some of the other teams in the West. What happened last year is insignificant. Ottawa has as good a roster as they had last year, and look what happened to them. The point is we're going to have to be a lot more physical than what we've been so far with Nashville if we expect to beat any of the teams I mentioned above.

Yeah, but Lanfeld is 6'3 and North American, which means that he's physical with his hitting, and loves to fight.

Our team is soft physically, but I don't think Nashville is the team that has exposed that in the least bit. If we play Calgary, Anaheim or San Jose, then it could be a different story, since those teams love to hit and play physical, sometimes even dirty. I'd love to see Downey and Lija dressed for the rest of the playoffs, just to put these stupid conversations about toughness to rest.

Am I missing something? Didn't we win the last game which means that Ozzie should clearly be the goalie? The real question is when is Lilja coming back to replace that speedskater guy who plays on defense?

Like Ellis being injured also?

This is great news. Last year we had bad karma with injuries, so I hope things like this can continue going our way. However, we barely beat them yesterday with those guys out, and you know Trashville is going to play better at home.

We didn't play them in the 1998 playoffs, and still won the Cup that year.

The Lidstrom comment was ridiculous, as well as the Hasek death wishes, but if the Wings lose a game, and I come on LGW to see that no one is complaining about a playoff loss, I would think the world has turned upside down. The point is, it's not surprising that it happens. People get really emotional about these games, and if they come here to vent about it, then that's expected. Like I said, I'd be shocked if no one complained after games 3 and 4, or after last night's game went into OT. I guess the blind homers will just have to deal with it, instead of asking for people to mellow down, as if that's going to happen.

Whoever started this thread would probably get rid of the 1st amendment, and make America a communist country. Basically, you guys don't want anyone posting anything negative at all. I've thought the same thing, but it's just hard to root for those idiots. Personally, I think we'll have an easy time against either them or the Stars. I'll root for the Stars, although I doubt they'll get past Anaheim. Either way, I would like any 2nd round matchups.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but he actually looked good tonight and drove the net several times instead of taking meaningless shots. In fact, some of his goofy moves actually worked for a change, even the backhanded move that he's become infamous for.

Actually, I'd be surprised if we go the rest of the playoffs without seeing one more goalie change. It's just the nature of having two capable goalies back there that will make Babcock more trigger happy than most coaches would be otherwise.

I don't like either guy, and I'm kind of mixed on this. I have a question about how it happened. Did one guy offer the hand and the other refused, or was it mutual? I don't believe anything Avery says about Brodeur refusing a handshake, but if he's right and it was just Brodeur who refused, then that does make Brodeur look bad. They should have just shaken hands, and then done a Cicarrelli like quote after the game.

Right, but I've soared to greatness since then. Also, I didn't mean to be harsh, it's just that you started it. Why are people here always bashing and attacking each other? I never do that unless someone does it to me first. I've heard more FU's here tonight directed from one poster to another than I ever have before. Grow up people. Finally we win a game that we deserve to win, when we outshoot the other team badly. Well, as I called it, whoever wins game 5 will win game 6, and I'm sticking to my pick. There will be no game 7, especially with the Wings winning streak in closing out games.
