Stuart right now seems like a slightly better version of Cory Cross (god help us). However, he should definitely be in the top 6. If it comes down to Lilja and Lebda, I just don't understand why Lebda should be picked. And I'm tired of people talking about his speed. His speed might be useful in a video game, but in real life it amounts to nothing out there offensively. He's Rico Fata on defense. Also, his progression as a player has pretty much stopped. To me he's a valuable 7th or 8th defenseman, but that's where it stops.

Anyone on LGW can name a lot worse defensemen over the years, Lebda being one of them. As if we needed to get any softer, now we take out the PAIN TRAIN, and replace him with someone who looks like a schoolboy. Speed had nothing to do with our loss to Nashville. The Wings lost because of poor goaltending and an overall lack of concentration coupled with sitting back too much in the 3rd. Somehow that all amounts to Lilja needing to be scratched for Lebda. Good call Babcock.

I hope that's true, however, I doubt it, since I don't live anywhere near New York or New Jersey, and my programming says the Wings game will be joined in progress at 8:30. Damn you Gary Bettman! This is all your fault.

I'm going to be a lot less excited if we go up by 2 or 3 goals, because that last game taught me that the Wings are a different team this year. In the past when we went up like that on teams, it was over. It might be the product of today's NHL or just a lack of concetration for the team, but I hope we don't have to see anything like that the rest of the playoffs. Nashville is going to come out with more heart and physicality than the other 3 games, and the Wings better match it.

Their defense is atrocious. They've given up way too many goals in this series, which is why they're losing. I don't think they're that much worse than Philly on paper, it's just their philosophy which is dangerous come playoff time. Anytime your strategy is to simply outscore the other team, you're taking a big risk as a team. They need to bolster their defense in the offseason with more defensive minded defenseman, since Green is more offensive minded even though he's molding into a star.

I told everyone Anaheim wasn't going to go down so easily. Too many people here committed wishful thinking in assuming the series was over. I fully expect Dallas to choke this series like they usually do come playoff time.

I don't see how anyone can fault the defense for the last 2 goals, especially the 3rd goal. That was a very stoppable shot, and if I'm not mistaken, our defense had them bottled up prior to that for quite some time and the arena was quiter than a golf course. For us to win the Cup Hasek will have to stand on his head at times. The sad thing is that last night wasn't even one of those times, because he gave up bad goals, and not point blank shots that no goalie in the world can stop. If he can't stop those easy shots, this team isn't getting out of the first round, as we found out with Legace in 2006.

Him and Cleary have both been nonexistent, but we've scored enough goals in this series to not complain about scoring. We scored 3 the last game, and that should be enough to win each night in the playoffs where scoring usually goes down.

The best thing about it was the satisfied look on Lilja's face when the fight was over. He looked like he just KO'd Rocky Maricano.

As I posted yesterday, Sirdrake gave me an idea. Chelios should have just fallen on the puck and wasted the 4 minutes remaining off the clock.

The top line needs to be put back together. Hank didn't look as great in the last game as games 1 and 2, and I think Franzen is actually better off being the primary scorer on his line, so he gives us enough secondary scoring. Cleary will be fine as long as he keeps working hard. He needs to stay in the top 6. I also think Hudler and Draper need to stay together, because inexplicably they have some kind of chemistry going right now.

He was farther out than that. I expect goalies in today's NHL to stop shots like that, or else Sammy would be a 40 goal scorer each year. And the 3rd goal was a weak wrister that should never be considered a decent scoring chance. I can't believe some people are blaming the defense for that one.

What makes this loss sting more than anything is that Nashville didn't put up any kind of effort. Those idiots just had two spurts where they scored quickly, and got outplayed the rest of the game. I feel like the Wings rewarded them tonight for nothing. Hell those last 2 goals weren't even decent scoring chances.

On this night all 3 of those were true. As much as people want to blame other players, if Hasek can't stop shots like those last 2 goals, then we're screwed. The defense can't limit Nashville to not taking any shots at all in the 3rd. The 2 shots they scored on weren't even great scoring chances. The defense did its job.

That bastard Pierre jinxed us. He's been predicting that this would happen to Hasek for a while now.

I wonder if Sammy has been scoring on Hasek in practice with his slapshots. If so, then this problem could be more serious than we all think.

He needs to be put on the Robert Lang diet. Eat, Eat, Eat.

I wish I had a bottle of Everclear with me right now. That would put me away real fast.

Now that I think about it, Nashville made no push whatsoever in the 3rd period, and had no sustained pressure. It was just one bad goal that led to everything, so it's not like they've figured out how to play consistent hockey any better than we have. For once, we lost without the other team's goalie standing on his head.

Ironically, Hasek is always there to magnify Lilja's mistakes.

We'll have to go up 4-0 next game for me to feel confident about this team right now. I'm still pissed that we gave those idiot fans the satisfaction of winning a game against us. Also, I want to blame Gary Bettman and Ken Holland for the loss, since no one has done so yet.
