Calling Laraque a fighter is a joke, since he's practically a grappler who will just wrestle you down and then throw puches to the back of your head. And he's horrible as an enforcer. The other night Crosby was getting run all night, while Laraque didn't do s*** about it. Yeah, I know there's an instigator rule, but when your superstar is taking head shots, that has to go out the window. Thus, he's dropped off on my ranking. 1. Brashear 2. Boogaard 3. Laraque 4. King 5. McGrattan

Wow! It's been a whole month since we had a thread like this on LGW. Seriously, nothing has changed. Ozzie's number shouldn't be retired, and for whoever started this thread, Linden's number shouldn't be retired either. Numbers should be retired for greatness, and not just longevity with the team. Linden is not even close to being HOF worthy. His longevity in Vancouver should not be a factor in retiring his number. If it was, then the Wings should retire Draper and Maltby's numbers since they've been here a long time too. Naslund is probably the only Canuck whose number I see being retired, if he finishes up his career there.

Does anyone actually want Florida to win so that Carolina will make the playoffs? It sounds to me like it's a unanimous "No", so far.
-
Why, what happened in 2006?
-
His overall rating isn't that high on my video game, so I'm not scared about him come playoff time.
-
I think the only criticism of him has always been the injuries, and I can't fault anyone for questioning the amount of money he was paid for a shortened season year after year. As far as his play, I've never found anything overly wrong with it. Earlier in his career he made some questionable plays with the puck from time to time, but he's dwindled that down. With him the issue will always be health. He's already proven he can be a top notch defenseman, and might actually get even better in the next few years, if he can stay healthy.

Why would Gary Bettman ever post on LGW?
-
That already has happened in my mind. Minnesota and Dallas are the teams I'd most want to see the Wings play.
-
If only Lilja could score goals. Then your wish would be fullfilled.
-
We can't beat them without Robert Lang.
-
Corey Perry is on his period right now.
-
Chris Nilan was an overrated hugger who was Dave Brown's punching bag. Anyway, that might be the right answer. I agree completely.
-
Geez, maybe the first 3 words of your stupid post might have something to do with that, Jack. Why would anyone here like you for posting crap like that. I know your team doesn't have a real forum, but that doesn't mean you should post stuff like that here.

Can we cheat by looking at hockeydb, or are we on the honor system, where we can only guess off the top of our heads? I prefer the latter, but I think it's important to set guidelines now, or else the whole quiz isn't as fun. P.S. That John McCain avatar has to go. I feel like I'm on a Fox News Forum.

How dare you? He has great hands and is good at moving the puck. For people here, that's enough to suggest that he should be a regular on the 2nd line at all times. As I asked earlier on another thread, I don't undestand why so many people here idolize him? It's baffling to me.
-
You mean when Cory Cross destroyed Steve Ott? Yeah, I totally remember that.
-
Thank god! I was getting scared of the prospect of seeing that fat idiot Lang scoring 4 GWG in overtime against us.
-
I didn't even know that happened last night. I guess I've been too busy lately to check out fights. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Lilja could lick them both.
-
Please tell me the Hawks have already been eliminated?
-
I'm beginning to wish we were a 6 seed. Minnesota is probably the team everyone wants to play in the playoffs right now. Lucky divealanche.
-
They have no chance of beating Anaheim anyway. Yeah, they've had some success earlier this year against them, but this is the Stars we're talking about. They're playoff chokers.
-
Sammy will probably touch it, and then say "Whoops. I'm sorry" Then we'll get swept in the 1st round of the playoffs.
-
I'm not worried about the Preds. If we can't beat them, we don't belong in the playoffs.
-
I never said that I won't be disappointed that they lose, in fact all my posts should suggest otherwise. I probably put too much stock in my life on whether we win or lose, and will be devastated if the team doesn't win the Cup this year. Making fun of hacks like Sammy, Hudler, and god rest his soul, Kopecky, is hardly the equivalent of me predicting catastrophe and always bashing players. There are many guys on this team who I've never said anything bad about. You've just decided to single me out for your own amusement, but I realize that this is a fan forum, so I you have that right. Are you sure you aren't doctor Phil with all this preaching?
-
His numbers in the last several months have been Downey-like, but in his case, he doesn't fight or add anything else to the team. Many posters here have some amusing allegiance to him, as if he's been a Wing for all 3 Cup runs. Most importantly, Babcock will continue playing him, but with these injuries, I can't fault the coach, since there's really not that much choice.
