Hasek: Losing his edge or just disinterested 'til playoffs?
GMRwings1983 replied to clayjoh's topic in General
Both goalies have been nowhere near as consistent as they were earlier in the season. Yeah, the team was playing out of its mind then, but I'm not very confident with these goalies right now. We're always going to outshoot the other team badly, which means that every shot we face becomes that much more magnified. Ozzie and Hasek have to be able to stop those shots, or else they're going to get blamed for the losses, plain and simple. -
Hawks fans are such pathetic losers. When we beat them, none of us go to their forum to brag about it, yet when they have success against us, they make a big deal out of it like they just won the Cup. I guess that's what happens when you've been the NHL's ***** for so long.

How dare anyone criticize the Wings for losing 6-2 to a Blackhawks team that we desperately don't want to face in the playoffs. Instead we should focus on all the positives out of this game. Honestly, I'm getting tired of threads like this. That was a pitiful performance, and there's nothing wrong with people being angry about it. Yeah, it's not the playoffs, but it was still painful to watch.

Is there a goalie in the house?
-
I don't mind if the Sharks win the President's trophy. I just want the playoffs to begin.
-
Hell, I've complained about those teams always playing each other on TV, but that is the best game I've seen all year. Also, it proves what a ***** Laraque is that he's afraid to get an instigator, instead he's letting Hartnell run Crosby the entire game with headshots.

Scott Parker or Brian McGrattan. It's time to replace "team toughness" with "real toughness"
-
You've never heard of Paul Laus? Well, that explains it.
-
I wouldn't be talking. The Flames so-called grit has gotten them two 1st round exits in a row.
-
Guess which teams are playing on Versus tonight? Give up yet? It's going to be Rangers vs. Penguins. Seriously, this crap needs to stop it's always those 2 teams plus the Flyers playing against each other for televised games in a three ring circus. Aren't there any other teams in the league? I'd love to see Montreal, Ottawa, New Jersey, or the Flames, Canucks, hell even the Ducks that won the Cup last year never get any airtime when they play on the east coast. I'm just annoyed at seeing these same 3 teams playing each other every other week on Versus. A little more originality would be nice for a change, especially when they played each other yesterday on NBC.

Tayshaun Prince has done as much for the Wings the last 2 months as Hudler has. He sucks, plain and simple. Stop making excuses for his play.

I thought the poster was one of the girls, and the other girl was the sister. Anyway, to answer this question, it depends. The Wings strength is not their physicality, but their skill and system. If winning is going to come down to the Wings being more physical than their opposition, then we're screwed, because that's not our game. Don't forget that there were guys who stepped it up physically last year in the playoffs, that no one expected to, namely Lilja and Markov. If a talentless hack like Kopecky can step it up, and if Lilja picks up his game, then maybe we can get back to that same level of intensity that we saw at times last year. However, even so, at times this team looked overwhelmed last year when the Sharks or Ducks were playing their cycling system down low against us. As I said earlier, the Wings have to avoid getting into a physical battle of attrition on the ice, because we're not going to win that way.

He'll get injured soon enough, so we don't have to worry about him being back. He could always put up points when healthy, no one ever doubted that. This team would be fortunate to remain in the 6 seed, since the Wild are pretty much everyone's ***** to the point where everyone wants to play them. Of course, then they'd have to face the Wings in the 2nd round, and I don't see them winning a game against us. I still think he's a piece of crap for announcing his retirement, and then coming back a week later, right up there with Selanne and Niedermayer, except those guys "supposedly" had several months to change their mind, and not a week.
-
Other way around, because I'm young and go to school. I don't want to stay up around finals week, when I should be getting some sleep instead. That might not hold true as much for the 1st round, but definitely for the later rounds. If the Wings would just move east, everything will be fine.

What is this history of beating Vancover? That series we won in 2002, when Lidstrom scored from center ice against Luongo? That was 6 years ago, and it's going to take more than fluke goals to beat Luongo. Besides, I'd rather play against dick fans than those rabid Western Canadian fans. Also, I don't want to listen to that CBC feed for 3 straight years. Bring on the Preds.
-
Why, because you'd want us to play against Luongo at 4 in the morning? I sure as hell wouldn't.
-
Lidstrom would just take over as player coach. I don't see any downside to that.
-
If he is hurt, then this is a warning sign to sit everyone until the playoffs, even if the Sharks win the President's trophy. Hell finishing in 2nd would be better anyway, since we'd probably play the divealanche. I don't want any Wings players getting hurt, but if they do, I'd rather have them get injured in the playoffs, and not a week before that.
-
April Fools right?
-
Yeah, but an enforcer is an integral part of the team, and he was the best ever. None of those other guys are quite as unique as Probie was.
-
That 3rd line is going to be hard to watch, so I'd just move the 4th line up, and make them the 3rd line instead. Hudler on the 2nd line is just plain sad, but with Homer injured, there's really not that much of an alternative.
-
Why the hell isn't Probert on more people's lists? He should get special consideration just for what he did for the team. Hell, if it were up to me, he'd be in the Hall of Fame.
-
Hudler has pretty much been a healthy scratch since January, even though he's been dressed for every game. I'm beginning to think that his existence is an illusion to me. Yeah, he doesn't get hurt often for his size, but what's the point of him being durable if he doesn't bring anything to the team?
-
There's actually an outside chance that the divealanche might play the Ducks in the 1st round. There's a matchup of LGW's two most hated teams that I'd love to see. If it happens, I'll be rooting for injuries.

Didn't he win the Norris in Detroit?
