Damn, I forgot to mention Link in my post. He was probably the scariest most dangerous man ever to play hockey anywhere. Some of the stories I've read about Link are just unreal.
-
Here are two of the greatest fights ever, with the 1st one, in my opinion being the best fight ever.

Babcock: This is the best team I've coached
GMRwings1983 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
No kidding. As if he was going to say, "Well that 2006 team was pretty damn good. I don't think we're as good as that team was." -
I don't know how much you guys know about enforcers, but Scott Parker was supposed to be the next Bob Probert when he played in the minors. That prognosis ended when he fought Probert, literally. Also, anyone remember Rico Fata? The guy that could skate like the wind, but could disappear into it just as easily.

Franzen / Zetterberg / Holmstrom Flip / Datsyuk / Cleary Maltby / Drapes / McCarty Sammy / Drake / Downey I don't think anyone will mind if Sammy plays on the 4th line and takes shots on net, since neither Downey or Drake are expected to score anyway. Also, Hudler and Kopecky wouldn't be regulars in my lineup, since they can't do much of anything out there, and just take up space.

My beard grows very fast, so after a week I'd have a lot of facial hair, and after 2 weeks I'd have a full beard. After 2 months, God knows what. Thus, I decided many years ago that I wouldn't grow any playoff beard.

That wasn't a KO, this is a KO. Sorry if the video is slow, but that was the best one punch KO I've ever seen. Link

If only the league could abolish fighters like Laraque who try to hug their opponents to death instead of fighting them, and who hate their role as an enforcer. Do that and get rid of the instigator rule, and maybe the NHL will take a step in the right direction for a change.

Babcock: This is the best team I've coached

Only time will tell. The way the 2006 Wings finished the regular season, it was hard to conceive that anyone could beat them, but looked what happened. Now we know that hindsight is 20/20, but at this point in the season, I would say the 2006 team was better than this year's team. Lets hope the playoffs paint a different picture than they did back then. -
Burke will think of something. Maybe next year it will be Pronger and Giguere's turn to take half the season off and then come back right before the trade deadline.
-
I miss those good 'ole days when the Wings were a clutch playoff team in overtime games.
-
What for? We already have his twin brother Jiri Hudler.
-
That 2006 season just stands out like a sore thumb. I remember going into the playoffs that year thinking that no one could beat this team 4 times out of 7 games. That's why I'm not drooling over this team finishing 1st this year. The win consistency has been special, though, since that's not something you see anymore in sports.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up in Anaheim next year.
-
That would have put him over Dave Schultz's record, but I'm sure the league would have suspended him the higher up he got.
-
Sharp got beat by one of the league's top fighters, so you can't fault him there. As for the Kopecky fight, yeah I'll give you that one. That was just a pathetic loss by Sharp.
-
We all knew that. We were just waiting for you to post about it.
-
Well, the Wings play on the west coast quite a bit, so he could see his girlfriend from time to time.
-
I wonder how many he could have wound up with if not for the injury? I think he would have hit 400 PIM's. There used to be at least 10 players every year about a decade ago that hit 300 PIM's, so it's pretty sad that we have to congratulate one guy for doing it nowadays.

I'd rest everyone vs Blues games this week...
GMRwings1983 replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
The Blues aren't going to make the playoffs even if they beat us by 10 goals each game. As for the 8th seed, yesterday I commented on how weird it would be if the Oilers soared into that spot, just like they did 2 years ago. It'd be a good way to pay them back, even if it means staying up till 2 in the morning and listening to those idiot CBC homers. Ideally, I wouldn't mind playing either the divealanche or the Preds, since we'd be them in 4 or 5 games. -
The Flyers in the 2000 season had Odjick, McCarthy, and Berube on their roster, which was the last time I remember 3 great enforcers on one team. Then again, I don't remember if those guys were all dressed together for any games.
-
Sure there has. Lilja, Downey, Kopecky.
-
I think Ozzie's leash is shorter right now with Babcock than Hasek's. The thing I'd be most shocked over is if Osgood is named the flat our starter for the playoffs. Ozzie's best chance is that they'll be alternated.
-
That'd be weird if we play the Oilers again in the 1st round of the playoffs with them streaking just to make it in as the 8th seed. At least we won't have Manny Legace to worry about this time.
-
The only thing that's scary about the Sharks is their logo. This team's so-called stars have disappeared too many times in the playoffs for me to sweat over them.
