It's amazing to see all the scenarios with which Sammy's been traded already on LGW. I wish I had started keeping a count of all the posters' suggestions, just to see how many there are. There has to be literally thousands of trade proposals that we've already discussed here, some of which border on the outlandish.

If you frequent this site, then every team appears to have a legitimate interest in Sammy, and would be glad to have him at any expense.

I just hope we don't do anything stupid at the deadline, like getting a guy who won't re-sign with us next year, or some big useless defenseman who we won't even play in the playoffs. But I have great faith in Holland since he'd never do anything that dumb.

Yeah, but back then this team could provide other means of entertainment by pummeling their opponents. When you suck as a team and you don't fight, then the combination is just awful to watch from any standpoint.

He's had trouble finding takers since everyone he fights just wishes to grab and hold on for dear life. I don't blame him for being discouraged. With Barch and Winchester being scratched, Lilja didn't see any reason to fight, and probably didn't want to take liberties with Ott, although I agree that he should have jumped him anyway. Lilja is just too noble of an enforcer right now. He needs to show more of a mean streak. Hopefully tonight he'll shave that beard right off Scott Parker's face, so don't get discouraged Kp.

The thing I'm worried about most is not having any injuries for the playoffs. If Dallas passes us in the standings, then so what? Who the hell is afraid to play the Stars with them having home ice advantage, since their team always disappears in the playoffs anyway? We know finishing 1st doesn't guarantee anything for the Wings either. In fact, if the playoffs started today, we'd play Calgary again in the 1st round, which isn't much of a reward for having the best record. Also, going into the playoffs with momentum hasn't meant much in the past either. I'm still pissed about the losing streak, but since we already have a playoff spot clinched, the streak is just fun for LGW banter.

Sammy and Kopecky for Brashear and Erskine. Washington gets: An idiot who will take away all of Ovechkin's scoring chances and will constantly turn the puck over at the blueline, plus another idiot who skates in circles and doesn't know how to use his size. Detroit gets: A 5th or 6h defenseman who's big and physical and can drop the gloves when need be and is used to playing minutes, plus one of the best fighters in the league who can also put up points and has grit down low with the puck.

I'd hate to see Lilja leave, but LA would be a good place for him with his recent popularity surge. I can totally see him dating several good looking celebrities here and there.
