I think Penner's problem is that he's playing for a deadbeat team. If he was playing with Getzlaf and Perry, he'd have much better numbers than Bertuzzi, and certainly better than what he has in Edmonton right now.
-
Very classy list, Lou. Can't argue with those guys. Only why did you pick McCormick ahead of Parker for the divealanche? McCormick is just a light heavyweight, and not even a good one at that.
-
Too early to place that kind of jinx on him, but the injury bug is beginning to get annoying, especially if he's not even getting injured in games.
-
Fabian? Is that a common Swedish name, because I've never heard of one like it before. Well, since Lidstrom is the expert on bringing in Swedish players, the scouting staff should just leave it up to him to decide.

I can't agree with you there. I miss seeing guys like Enrico Ciccone or Gino Odjick. That nut that everyone knew was going to do something crazy any minute is something I enjoyed about the old days. Also, why can't the league have more guys like that? If they're going to have guys like Tootoo or Downie running around cheapshoting players, then why not have more guys that take liberties during fights? Some of the all time great enforcers were cheap, dirty fighters, and there's no rule out there now that says we can't have any more of that. I blame most of this on Bettman, and his anti-fighting cronies that are running the league offices.

Didn't he miss the all-star game last year because of injury?

I did now. Sorry, I guess I was so busy writing my post, I forgot to vote originally.

I think it should, because he's one of the best Wings players ever, and who the hell is ever going to wear 91 again anyway? However, it won't be retired because of the terms under which he left. Hell, if he retired after 2003, the number probably would have been retired by now.

Things I have learned from watching the NHL Network

Were there ever any other great feats in NHL history besides Sittler scoring 10 points in one game? That's all they ever ******* show. I'm sure there's some other achievement they can show just once in a while. -
Capitals vs. Penguins tonight. Hopefully we'll see Laraque and Brashear dance one more time. And this time with minimal hugging if at all possible.
-
If you've ever heard the Blues, divealanche, Predators, or Blue Jakets announcers, you won't ever rag on Ken Daniels again.
-
No, and lets hope he doesn't try.

I love the guy, but I gotta admit - Im still surprised.

I know. I can't believe it's been 12 years since anyone hit 60 goals. If only the PIM totals can go back to what they once were. -
Wow! I don't know what to say. Lilja slipped in the Moen fight just when he was getting ready to open things up a little bit, and that's how he wound up at Moen's feet. Phaneuf, Begin, and Neil went for the takedown to avoid getting beat up. As for Sharp, he's the only one who had the guts to open up with "PAIN TRAIN" and look what happened to him.

If he doesn't miss any more games, and if he plays with Pavel and Homer the rest of the season, he could win the scoring title if that line remains hot. It sucks that he missed some time, though, or else he'd be leading the league now. -
Ask Neil, Begin, Phaneuf, Moen, and Sharp. Those are the victims on his fight card so far, and they'll tell you why the Wings signed him.
-
With any luck, if Lilja gets signed long-term, he'll be forever considered right up there with other great Wings enforcers like Probert and Kocur. Also, I'll always have plenty to write about on LGW as long as the "PAIN TRAIN" is around. Get it done Kenny.

I don't have anything against Lebda, but I don't see him ever becoming that much better than he is now. He doesn't have a great shot from the point, and he's never going to get bigger or more physical. He's just a fast guy who happens to play defense. That's it. It might not matter now since he doesn't have that much responsibility, but when Lidstrom is gone, more will be asked out of Lebda, and I don't think he can deliver.
-
Thanks for the info. How the mighty have fallen. Thank you "new NHL"
-
Speaking of Worrell, where the hell is he playing nowadays? I was hoping that because of his connections with Lilja, there would be a chance that we might get him eventually. I mean if Lidstrom can suggest players for the management to sign, then why can't Lilja?

The Ducks defense is better suited to handle a 7 game series than the Wings defense, because of their physicality. It's going to be tough for the Wings to handle that top line down low when they start cycling. That's why we need another physical D-man.
-
"PAIN TRAIN" is a great fighter, but it was his smarts in game 5 last year that turned around that series.
-
We should be worried. They've got the best defense in the league, they're bigger and more physical than the Wings, and Giguere has given us fits before. I don't think we'll have to worry about playing them in the 1st round, though, because it looks like they'll finish higher than 8th.

I think the league would be too reluctant to put him ahead of Crosby, since he's not North American, and since his English isn't all that great. He does have more charisma, but the league is set on Crosby being their top dog, and there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, Ovechkin plays in a town where no one seems to give a s*** about hockey, so that doesn't help his chances if in his own town the columnists don't cover him that much.
