Of course everybody is afraid of Lilja. That's why everyone grabs on and wrestles him down when you can clearly see that he wants to open up. As for Boogaard, he's the best pure fighter in the game today. Laraque and Brashear are just strong wrestlers who are good at throwing someone down and punching them while that person is falling.

These injuries are all Gary Bettman's fault.

With Rafalski you have to take the good with the bad. He's not going to all of a sudden stop turning the puck over. We had to sign him because Schneider left. Let's just hope that come playoff time, he won't make any huge turnovers that cost the Wings games.

Afinogenov has great talent, but he makes way too many mistakes with giving away the puck. He'd immediately become the new scapegoat on LGW if the Wings picked him up.

Yeah right! Then Edmonton would have one of the best records in the West, and teams would be rewarded for a stupid gimmick done only to please a fanbase that doesn't care about hockey. That's all the shootout really is. It's ridiculous enough that it gets as much weight as it does, there's no reason to give it any more significance.

Now that you mention it, Bertuzzi played his best in Vancouver with Morrison and Naslund, and now he's riding on another top line. I wonder how much of his credit should go to others, because the way Perry and Getzlaf are playing right now, a lot of guys could increase their stats playing with those two.

Still, him being injured is bad for the game. The league's marketing is pathetic as it is, so there's no reason for people to blame Crosby for that. It's not like he should stand up and say "Please stop marketing me, and market someone else". I don't understand how any of this is his fault. If the league is riding him, it isn't because he's asking it to. He's just going out there and doing his job.

I'm surprised so many people here dislike Crosby. It's not like the Penguins are a rival to the Wings or anything. Yeah he gets a lot of hype, but there's not enough hockey players who get hype nationally, so the league needs Crosby if it ever wants to go anywhere beyond versus.

Atlanta's defense and goaltending seems to never improve from year to year, much like the Lightning. They can score, but they need a top notch defenseman if they're going to ever be a great team.

So much for the all-star game. I wish they wouldn't name the team until a week before the game, that way there wouldn't be all these surprisig injuries weeks before the game. This happens to at least 5 guys every year, but this was the most important player the league could have injured. Bettman's probably rolling over in his grave right now.

By the time he got to St. Louis, he was so roided up that no one dared challenge him. He had tremendous power and strength, but his balance and chin were a little suspect. Still, I have a hard time thinking of reasons for why he shouldn't be an all-time top 10, considering his dominance in his prime. Probably the only guy I ever liked that played for the Blues.

I hope that happens with the Wings. I just want to see Lilja and Chelios shoot once in a shootout.

That trade definitely proves that even Kenny Holland can make dumb mistakes. Hopefully, the Wings don't ever make another trade like this again.

Hey, there's only 3 ways to react to any piece of news. Happiness, anger, or indifference. I'm not angry about it because I hate the divealanche. I'm not indifferent because I am a hockey fan, and they do play in the Western conference. So that only leaves one more emotion, namely happiness. It's all really simple when you think about it.

Really? I've never liked him that much. I don't really know why. I guess it could be because he was a cheap dirty fighter in his youth who took too many liberties, but then again, so were some of my favorite fighters, such as Dave Brown for instance. I guess it's just one of those things, but for some reason May has been one of those cheap fighters that I don't like as opposed to one of the cheap ones that I do.

Iginla is more marketable for the league, so I'm not surprised. If Crosby wasn't so young, he'd probably be the East captain.
