So you're admitting that he never plays even 70% of the games. How is that good for any team? That basically fits the definition of someone who's injury prone. Yeah, I'm a bit biased on Floppa, but what I'm preaching isn't exactly an original idea. Everyone knows of his injury problems.
-
It's scary to realize that that was actually true at one time. The rest is LGW's history.
-
O.K. But the first part of my response was more than relevant enough for why he shouldn't be signed. Yeah, we wouldn't have to trade anybody, but it would still be a resource wasted on someone who doesn't help us. Hell, last year everyone thought trading away Matthias for Bertuzzi wasn't a big gamble, yet it turned out to be one. The Wings need the cap space to go after a guy that can help, not some vegetable who's always hurt.
-
Because he'll play like 5 games for us. Yeah, he'll average over a point per game, but what good is that in the long run. Besides, too many Wings fans hate him, myself included.
-
Please educate me as to the reason someone would want him. I can't think of any.

It's so pathetic how the league is trying to market the game in Atlanta, which is a city that doesn't care about any sport, let alone hockey. Half the people there probably couldn't pick Kovalchuk out of a police lineup.
-
I miss him already. Anyone know what his current position is with the Wings, that is if he still has a current position?
-
I'll be the first to admit that I want Maltby to stay in the lineup because he's Kirk Matlby, and he's been here a long time. I'd dress Downey every game, and would probably sit Kopecky, because Drake has played better lately.
-
Without Lang, we wouldn't have all those great playoff memories of clutch goals being scored. Besides, LGW wouldn't have been the same without him.
-
I don't think Hank can jump far enough to match Floppa when it comes to diving.
-
Bowman loves the game, so he feels like coming back. I don't see anything wrong with that, but at his age, I don't think that this is a challenge that he should take on. The Leafs are going to take too long to turn around.
-
Finally Drake injures someone with a hit. Before the season, that was the only bonus I saw in signing him. Too bad for Ottawa, but he'll be back for the playoffs which is all that matters.
-
If we want to trade for an old guy with a fat ass, we should just bring back Robert Lang.
-
If Hasek and Osgood are both playing equally well come playoff time, and the team continues winning just about every game, should Babcock name a starter for the playoffs, or could this team possibly alternate goalies in the playoffs? I know that hasn't been done much in the past, but I'm beginning to think that with this team it wouldn't matter. Note that I'm not asking who should be the starting goalie, but rather should we have one at all?

How about the "PAIN TRAIN" last night with another dominant win. Neil wanted no part of that. Is Lilja ever going to find anyone who's actually willing to throw with him instead of grabbing him and hanging on for dear life? Lilja's just like Twist and Kocur in that he can't find any takers. After seeing that monster right hand that he unleashed on Neil, now I know why he's so feared.

Having a deadbeat commissioner like Bettman doesn't help either.

Ottawa Fans are looking ahead to Saturday's game

Because Sammy is elite, and for once he's playing against a goalie who might give up shots aimed right at his chest. -
All you need to know about Franzen's size and tougness was displayed in that fight against Matt Walker.
-
Wasn't Hasek a mentor to Emery, or something like that?
-
I've never liked Drake, so I still don't mind seeing him get pounded in a fight, even if he's wearing a Wings jersey. I agree, though, about Downey needing to be dressed.
-
The only way Ozzy makes it to the HOF is if the voters iclude LGW members.
-
Right when I was cursing Cujo's name.
-
I've been waiting all year for a classic Drake cheapshot. That's why I hate the guy. Now that he's playing on our side, he's ceased to take cheap shots like he always used to. Who on their team could he actually beat besides the skill players? Hell for that matter, who could he beat, period?
-
Ozzy's not even close to being the best goalie in the league right now. As for Richter, he won the Cup in 94 and the Canada Cup in 96. He was a better goalie than Ozzy, and although Richter wasn't truly "elite", neither was Ozzy. Once again, you're looking too much at stats, and not enough at the obvious.

If Babcock didn't play Downey for that one Blues game a while back, I'm not surprised that he's not playing him now against Ottawa, which is a team we hardly ever play.
