Definitely not Flip, so I'd probably say Franzen. Hudler at least gives us offensive production, even though Franzen gives us a big body that we lack, but I still don't think of him as a physical player. Franzen's also good defensively, but we have plenty of that. By the way, smart move not including Sammy as one of the choices, or else this would have been a unanimous landslide.

"PAIN TRAIN". Down goes McGrattan, and then down goes Neil.
-
Roy, Hasek, Brodeur, Richter, and Belfour were all at least better than him. There's probably more, but I just wanted to show you that top 5 that you consider him to have been a part of. And if turning the Isles into a playoff team warrants some HOF consideration, then there's plenty of goalies we should be sending to the HOF. My point was that he is only a HOF candidate here on LGW, and not anywhere else, in other words, you guys are too biased to think like most people on this particular topic.
-
You stat freaks are too far in the forest to see the trees. This isn't the baseball HOF where stats are all that matters. At no point in his career was Ozzie one of the top 5 goalies in the league. How many other goalies in the HOF can you say that about?
-
They should just trade Sundin for Samuelsson and Lilja. This would end all their problems and might even bring them their first Cup in 41 years.
-
How did Lundqvist not make it? He's carried the Rangers all year.
-
Good for Cujo. At this point in his career, he could only have hoped to be a backup, unless someone gets injured. Hell looking at it that way, he probably should have signed in St. Louis.
-
Either Boyes or Ribeiro should have been there, and of course Rafalski. Let's not forget, though, that there's always a few guys right before the game that pull out or get hurt, so this could still change.
-
I don't care if I get flamed for this, but the only people who think Ozzie should be in the HOF are the members of LGW. No one else would ever say yes to this question.

Shoot Out skills competition to be judged now?

Lilja would kill everyone. -
The Wings may be shorter on talent than they used to be, but this is still one of the most talented teams in the league on paper. The rest of the league isn't inclined to say that the Wings are lacking talent.

Lidstrom may be the NHL's perfect player (NHL.com)

Hell, Babcock was 1 drink away from saying the same thing about Samuelsson. -
What's to stop Chris Chelios from signing a 13 year contract?
-
Osgood and Legace both in the All Star game. What has the world come to this season?
-
How come Holland can't sign any of those Euros? Now that's what I call "team toughness".
-
I actually think that Babcock won't win this year. The Wings have finished 1st many years in a row now, yet how many Jack Adams awards have they won? This award usually goes to coaches who get a team to a pinnacle that no one thought they'd reach. The Wings don't fit that description. Everyone knew they'd contend for the West.
-
Will someone please explain to me why Legace got picked for the team?

The NHL skills competition isn't what it used to be. The 3 on 0 drills are boring because the players try to pass too much, and since the shootout was implemented, the breakaway relay isn't that fun anymore, because we see that situation all the time now, where before we only saw it on penalty shots. -
I think Selanne will wind up coming back to Anaheim. If that happens, we're pretty much forced to get Sundin, because their 2nd line would be far stronger than our 2nd line. Of course, bringing in Sundin is a hit or miss thing, since he isn't going to re-sign in the offseason anyways. But who's going to argue that we have a better chance of winning the Cup without Sundin than with him?
-
I've thought about this some more, and I think it'd be a good idea to play him with Maltby and Draper. Those 2 guys are great defensively, so Sammy wouldn't be a big liability in his own zone. Likewise, neither of those guys would mind if Sammy shoots a lot, because they don't take that many shots. It's a win-win situation. Who knows, maybe their grinding style will rub off on him a little bit.
-
Does Burke have some overly erotic fascination with the Wings or something? This has gotten too weird already.
-
It's true that they play a more conservative style than the Canes, but that still doesn't take away from the fact that their forwards have underachieved. They didn't sign those guys in the offseason to win the Selke trophy, they signed them to score points, which they haven't done. As for Jagr being frustrated, well what else is new. The Rangers have done this before in the past, when they loaded up their team with talent, and yet got nothing out of it.

Sorry, I guess I should have read the post more carefully. I just read that he wanted to spend time with his family, and was unaware of the exact details. In that case, he can have a pass.
-
Just thinking of him playing for the Wings makes me sick. In theory, he has a lot of the qualities I'd want in a deadline acquisition despite his age, but I still don't want him, because I don't like him. It's the same way I feal about Floppa coming here. I'll take "PAIN TRAIN" any day.
