There's a difference between comparing different styles to different rules. As someone else posted, the Wings have 4 shootout wins, which they wouldn't have had in '96. Who knows how many wins that '96 team would have had if there were shootouts back then? Also, does anyone know if there was even overtime back in '77 when the Habs had that great team?

It wasn't fair that he had to fight back to back fights like that. His teammates showed me that night that they don't have Emery's back. Someone should of stepped in there and defended their goalie instead of letting him take on the other team's enforcer right after having another fight.

Well, it looks like Downey is scratched again for far more valuable players like Kopecky and Drake. Yeah right. One day someone on these forums might actually show me a good reason for Kopecky and Drake's usefulness.

The problem with having Downey on the grind line is that the grind line will play against the other team's top lines. I don't think Downey is good enough defensively to be able to handle that load. Plus, Babcock would never give him that much icetime. Also, I don't think Sammy fits in anywhere. He's not a top 6 forward, and he's not a 3rd or 4th line guy either.

How come your boy Hasek doesn't have the guts to take on the "PAIN TRAIN" or on Downey?

I'd rather have Sammy than Drake. He's a right handed shot and he can score, although not as well as some here would wish. All Drake gives us is fighting, and it's embarassing enough that the Wings need a 40 year old to fight for everyone else. We don't need his penalty killing, we get enough of that already.

We should trade for Emery, and make him our top enforcer. We'd have Emery, Downey, Lilja, Drake, and Kopecky. Who would dare f*** with that lineup?

Like I said in the previous post, I really thought it'd be a no-brainer, but I forgot how many Ozzie homers there are here. This team leads the league in shots for, and fewest shots against, so how can anyone say our goalie is the biggest reason for the success. Lidstrom is the heart and soul of this team, and has been for a long time.

Babcock determines the captains for both teams, as well as each player to be on the Western roster. In all seriousness, I always thought the coaches picked that. From what I know, it's never really been a big deal.

I don't see how it isn't Lidstrom. Just imagine this team without him in the lineup. I can't do it, because he's always there (knock on wood). He's my pick far and away.

I can't believe that he's so contented with never winning a Cup. I predict that he'll go Cup hunting eventually, just like Ray Bourque did.

Well, we finally got them. Back to back wins on the road is always hard to pull off, so this team just keeps on rolling.

Like the poster suggested, you've got to be more realistic. Throw Lilja into that trade, and then Philly will be all but forced to take it.

Yeah, it's pretty pathetic that Belak wouldn't be dressed against Philadelphia of all teams. As lately as a few years back, the Leafs still had a tough team that dressed multiple enforcers, but look at them now. Maurice has got to go after this season. They need to make Tie Domi their next head coach.

Franzen needs to challenge Sharp tonight. I mean both Kopecky and Lilja beat Sharp, so maybe this is Franzen's chance to become a fighting legend on these boards.

I hope someone puts Downie on the IR, because he's been asking for it. He's starting to remind me of Tootoo.

Carney doesnt' strike me as an overly physical defenseman. He's basically a slightly bigger version of Chelios at this point in his career. If we're going to make a move for a defenseman, I'd like someone more physical than Carney.
