    The Fight Thread

Franzen seriously needs to take some fighting tips from Lilja. Then maybe he could handle himself better next time he gets into a similar situation.

    Anyone Miss Lang?

There is a perfect explanation for Lang's success in Chicago. In Detroit he was the fat, lazy bum on a team full of hard-working veterans. Also, we have ruthless fans, and expect a lot out of the Wings every year. In Chicago, he is a veteran playing on a team full of young players that look up to him. Not that much is expected either of him or of the team, hence there's no pressure on him.

    12/26 GDT: Red Wings 5, Blues 0

Why the f*** isn't Downey on the ice more often? Is Babcock high or something?

What do you expect? It's St. Louis of course their fans are dumb.

Very intelligent, unbiased post. Why didn't you just go with Parker/Lapperiere? Hejduk is actually still good, but he hasn't been the same since Floppa and Tangay left his line when he scored 50 that one season.

    12/26 GDT: Red Wings 5, Blues 0

I'm beginning to get the feeling that I'm the only person on LGW who has any confidence in Lilja's fighting prowess. I hope that isn't so.

Where did you get that idea from? Lilja has not been beaten yet in a fight this year. Last I checked, King had at least one loss (to Boogaard). Jackman and Mayers would be small potatoes for Lilja, so I'm not even going to bother with them.

I say wings 4 blues 1. Goals by Lidstrom, Downey, Lilja, and Datsyuk.

We have to win this game, or else more of their idiot fans will come on LGW to tell us about how great they are and how soft the Wings are. They've been waiting for a while to say that their team owns the Wings.

    Lidstrom Signs 2-Year, $14.9m Extension

Good signing, but unfortunately this means that Lilja will have to wait a few more years before he becomes the number 1 defenseman in Detroit.

    Zetterberg, Holmstrom stay in Detroit

Great, that means we have to play 2 teams I ******* hate with 2 of our top 3 forwards out of the lineup. Hopefully the Wings will win anyway just to shut the other team's fans up.

    Looking Forward To Thursday!

Well, it almost happened last year, except the divealanche just missed out getting that 8 seed in the final days of the season. I was pulling for it to happen just because I didn't want us to play Calgary.

There's going to be football on New Year's day also?

    2 on 2

I'm pretty sure you haven't thought about it enough, because Lecavalier and St.Louis actually produce more when you add their point totals together. I'd still pick Hank and Pavel because I think they know each other better than any other tandem besides the Sedin twinks, but in that situation Daniel Sedin is a goal scorer, while Henrik Sedin is more of the passer, so each guy isn't as dangerous all around offensively. Also, does anyone know if Kovalchuk and Hossa play on the same line? If so, then they're another tandem to think about.

I'd also have to go with Pavel and Hank due to their long time playing together. Also, how dare you forget Lang and Williams in Chicago.

    Karma Finds Jackman

If we're losers, than what does that make the Blues with their pathetic history?

I'm guessing it has to do with stadium accessibility.

    Goalie Goals

As far as I know, nobody's ever done that in the NHL. I thought all the goalie goals were empty net goals.

    Karma Finds Jackman

A lot of what you say is true, but you're still a Blues fan, and Jackman is still a dumb looking s***bag who happens to play for the blues, so not many people here will agree with you. Not even God knows why Jackman won the Calder that year, and I can't believe you called him a "terrific" defenseman. I know the blues don't have much, but you've had good enough defenseman in the past to use a word like that so liberally to describe an average player like jackass. Also, I don't think that Jackman is afraid to fight fighters, but he does have a spotpicker mentality at times, which he probably picked up from playing with that overgrown backstreet boy Chris Pronger. And you shoulld blame Holland for not dressing any tough guys over the years, instead of assuming that all Wings fans are O.K. with that factor.

    Samuelsson does not fit in

I thought this was a Sammy thread. Why do you guys always have to pick on the enforcer as the useless player out on the ice?
  22. GMRwings1983

    Samuelsson does not fit in

I think Sammy's biggest mistake was scoring 20+ goals his first year in Detroit, because that became expected out of him every year after that. Another thing going against him is that he's the only right handed so-called sniper that we have in the lineup. People just look for more out of him than what he's capable of. The truth is that he's a 4th line jobber who just happens to have all-star confidence in his pathetic shot.

    Looking Forward To Thursday!

I think they probably hold those signs at every game, even if the Wings aren't playing against them that night. The Wings have been around too long for our fans to obsess over one team so much. Their fans remind me of the Red Sox fans who can only think about how much they hate the Yankees. I just have a personal bias against them, and I don't mind having it.

    Looking Forward To Thursday!

The rivalry is dead for Wings fans, but those divealanche fans still think that it's going on, probably because their team isn't as good as they used to be, so they need something to ***** about and strive for. I for one still hate the divealanche, and am pleasantly surprised that I still despise them and their bird-brained fans even though the rivalry has died down.

    The Fight Thread

Yes he is. My point exactly. And if Downey does the same thing, then I'll say that he's a *****. It's an unfair advantage that too many guys are taking advantage of nowadays. There's no way I can ever say a guy won the fight when he's wearing a visor and the other guy isn't. And no, I don't want to see both guys fighting with visors on.
