What the hell? That's how you know it isn't 2001 anymore. Our fans are rooting for Colorado and Dallas.

Twenty years ago in the summer of 2001, we were signing Hasek, Robitaille, and Hull. In 2021, Nick Leddy is our BIG move. I think I'm going to cry.

Bunch of whiners in this thread.

That would be Dolph, bud. Yzerman is a size queen. Despite being like 5'10 himself.

I don't mind. Jackie Redmond makes me want to stand up and beg for buttermilk.

Strange trade for Carolina to make. Looks like a steal for Detroit.

Seattle Expansion Draft: Who you pick?

Dude, if Seattle were allowed to take every Wings player available, Detroit would lose nothing. Even some of the players protected are very expendable. We're like Lloyd and Harry in Dumb and Dumber. The guy keeps worms in his living room. -
I'm glad we drafted the Vasilevskiy pick to Tampa to acquire Kyle Quincey. Nice of Kenny to do a job for Steve like that.
-
I couldn't stand Tangay when he played for Colorado. Don't tell me we're hiring Barrett Jackman to be the second assistant?
-
Scheifele's reaction is so modern day and soft.

So much for the narrative that Matthews is better than McDavid. That didn't age well.
-
LOL. Is Patrick Roy's son not available anymore?
-
McDavid, Crosby, and Ovechkin are teeing off at Pebble Beach at the same time. Nice going NHL. Way to market your good players. I won't even pretend to imagine how she could change my life.
-
McDavid is nowhere near 6'3. Until this season, no Leafs player won a major trophy since 1993. That is if you consider the Selke a major trophy. I'm too lazy to look up which Leaf last won the Hart, Vezina, Art Ross, or Norris. I wouldn't be surprised if it dated back to the original six days. Not only do they not win Championships, but they can't even produce players that win awards. Until a certain pigman from Arizona showed up.

Not as a two-way player. But don't let two-way ability mask overall impact on games. Crosby missed much of that season but still scored 72 points in 53 games. He scored 120 points the season before as a 19 year old. Datsyuk was a better two-way player but there was no question who was getting the Hart trophy. That's why I bring up Gretzky and Lemieux. Neither player was good defensively but who really cares? If you have an otherworldly offensive talent, it becomes less important how responsible they are defensively. McDavid is the closest we have to a scoring machine. You don't have to be the best two-way player to be the best player in the league. Otherwise, Patrice Bergeron is the best player in the league.
-
Actually, just about every thinking person would argue that. Only Red Wings homers wouldn't. Crosby was better than Datsyuk. You're overrating two-way play. Would you take two-way Fedorov in 1994 over a prime Mario in 1991? I wouldn't.

Bure was never the best scorer in the league. Goals maybe. Not points. McDavid is a more versatile offensive player. He's primarily a set-up man who scores goals. Bure was predominantly a goal scorer with low assist numbers. Bure was never going to dominate Art Ross races. You're overrating Draisatl's defensive play. He's never received a top 20 Selke vote, let alone top 10. He's better defensively than McDavid, but that doesn't make him a good defensive forward. Zetterberg was better defensively than Gretzky. There's a reason nobody cared about Gretzky or Lemieux's defensive prowess.
-
You're literally the only person who thinks that. What else does Draisaitl do besides score? Take faceoffs? He's not exactly getting high Selke nominations.
-
They're awful. Bring back the black pants. He's not overrated. He's rated correctly as the world's best player. Best offensive force in hockey post Lemieux. World's best player doesn't mean you can win a Stanley Cup on a one-line team. If he wins a Selke trophy this season, then I'll agree he's getting credit for things he shouldn't. People are overreacting. Edmonton was never making a deep run this season. They're too reliant on one line and their powerplay.
-
Why? I want to see McDavid play. Not the Jets. Jets are just c**k blocking here.
-
I feel bad for Draper's son. Poor Kris.
