The bottom line is that we need more tougness on this team when we play Anaheim, because you know they're going to take advantage of the biggest asset they have over us. Downey must play in the playoffs if we play them, but I still think we need to get tougher. As for Melrose, why was anyone here even watching espn? I thought you guys were hockey fans.
-
I have to call it a draw at first glance. Downey is a decent light heavyweight, but we really need a legit heavy in the lineup, since most of Downey's fights have been draws against guys who aren't considered anywhere close to heavyweight, with maybe the exception of Shelley.

I love Drapes, but he has to be the worst breakaway player ever to play hockey considering how many of them he gets, and how rarely he scores on them.
-
Pathetic showing by Cleary. We need more goons on this team to handle Anaheim. Where are you "PAIN TRAIN".
-
f*** Bert. I hope he gets hurt for them just like he did for us. Who does that s***bag think he is running Hasek?

That's cool. Do you know how often yahoo does this?

Apparently this ridiculous rumor's been making the rounds...
GMRwings1983 replied to edicius's topic in General
Then we can trade Khabibulin to Tampa for one of their stars, since they so desperately miss him. Other than that, I can't see why anyone would even suggest this ridiculous trade. Isn't Lalime Chicago's backup? Without Khabibulin, they won't go anywhere any time soon. -
The only way I trade either Flip or Kronwall for Sundin is if I was guaranteed that we'd win the Cup with Sundin. Only then, would I trade a young star for a rental player, in order to see a 4th Cup. Since there are no guarantees in the NHL, I just can't see why Kenny would ever make this trade. It could potentially be a disaster.

Looking for a veteran D-man...how about Danny Markov?
GMRwings1983 replied to detroitdan's topic in General
Markov wanted a ridiculous sum of money that he didn't deserve, and the Wings made the right choice to not pay him. This needs to be left in the past where it belongs. There's other physical d-men out there that we can go after. -
The league is going out of its way to include stars in the all-star game, which explains why someone like Niedermayer was picked. It would be crazy now for them now to suspend Kovalchuk for the game.
-
I still have nightmares of the last time we played a day game on nbc.
-
I like versus. They showed all the Wings playoff games last year for people who don't live in Detroit. Once you learn how to put those homer Calgary/Edmonton announcers on mute, all the problems are solved.
-
Marty doesn't play when he's on his period, so maybe that's the day the all-star game falls on. The only reason Niedermayer is playing is because the league feels like it needs his star power with all of the injuries. Unfortunately, Bettman doesn't realize that most people around the country don't know who the hell Scott Niedermayer is, so they should just leave the game to the hockey fans who are actually knowledgeable, and not pull farces like this.

How about Lilja and Samuelsson for Sundin. This way the Leafs would get 2 great Swedes instead of just one. It's so mathematically simple.
-
I felt like last year in the playoffs he must have played with some pain. It sucks that he'll miss the all-star game and will likely not contend for the scoring title, but at this point in the season, the team has nothing to play for. If he sat out the rest of the regular season with a guarantee that he'd play the entire playoffs, I'd take that deal in a heartbeat being a Wings fan.

Thank you for your legal insight, but I doubt Forsberg would be able to win a case based on what someone wrote on an internet fan site.
-
He needs to beat up some reporters to become popular in this country. If that fails, there's always the ever-popular drug bust which will elevate him to the higher echelon of espn notoriety.
-
Great video! Hinote is an annoying little s***bag, so it's great seeing him get beat up? What teams are they playing for, though? I'm assuming those were their minor league days, but do you know what particular league that's from?

How many guys have to get hurt for Lilja to be on the all-star team?

Sick of all the NHL commercials this year
GMRwings1983 replied to Lovin Jiri Fischer's topic in General
Thanks. It's good to see something different than the NHL Network's commercial of it. I've pretty much memorized the exact wording of that damn commercial as if I were the one who scored the 10 points. -

Did you guys know that Darryl Sittler once scored 10 points in one game? I wish there was a way I could find out more about that fateful night, to its most minute details. -
Because we have so many lefties, Floppa will become a righty when he comes here.
-
I think the all-star teams should be announced a week before the game. That way we won't have to see so many guys getting injured after they get picked. It happens every year, and it gets annoying.

I was disappointed by Laraque and Brashear. I was sure they were going to go in such a spirited game, but Malkin and Ovechkin wound up showing more intensity than either of them. It was a great game, though, mostly thanks to the goaltending which was awful. That's why I always lament the fact that goalies for the most part are too good nowadays to give up all these soft goals in order to have these high scoring games.

Providing Hank even plays.
