I think Downie should appeal this. While I do think he should have been suspended, it should not have been for 20 gaes, that far too much. I think between five and ten would be suffient. It was his first incident in the NHL and was not that bad of a hit in comparison to some other hits.

I got home from class just in time for the shoot out, great goals. Did Downey get much for playing time? For what he did get did he play decent? I already know there were no fights.

The only time I reallly see the take down as an edge is in the sport of wrestling (real, not fake WWE crap) or if after the take down you go to town after they are on the ground. The hitting on the ground may win that fight it will also earn you a butt kicking like none other because it violates every bit of the code that players have.

Depends on the kind of bread is used, kind of cheese, and the quality of the ham. I have to say when I saw him play when Michigan and MSU played I thought that he was a very good, very phisical defenceman with one heck of a shot. The only down fall in his playing I saw was his ocassional tendency to go for the big hit resulting in giving up a goal from being out of position. That type of play can go away with more experince and maturity.

Wouldn't being a dirty cheapshoter make Downie fit right in with the rest of the Flyers. Why? Their is no need to take a stick to his head, he will land a suspension and assuming he makes the Flyers latter in the season when these two teams meet again he will be pounded into the ice by one of the enforcers from Ottawa, or who knows mabye Emery will do it, but it will happen.

I do not really for see Downey being around come the regular season as much as I would like him on the team. I also don't see why Grigs is still in consideration for the slot at forward, he has not looked good at all in any of the preseason games. I honestly wouldnt be supprised to see him get the nod, even though I think he would learn more as a Griffin this year learning the North American style of game.

I remember him from MSU and he really isn't that good of a goalie, he's average dosn't really make any glairing mistake, but never did anything spectacular and got his nose out of joint when he was beat out by a freashman by the name of Jeff Lerg.

I played one season with a tighter jersey, I ended up usually leaving my elbow pads on the bench if the game was getting ruff, so thhat if I had to fight I could move my arms better. After that season I made sure hey ordered jerseys that were a couple sizes too big.

You are being a baffoon in calling it that way. While Roy thew the better punchs early including ont that knocked Downeys helmet off, Downey came right back and fired some solid ones of his own and did get the take down. Why don't we go after Jon "Nasty" Mirasty since he is playing in the AHL for the Syracuse Crunch. He is truely a heavyweight enforcer even though he is smaller. Mirasty is in red.

I would have liked to have see the Wings invite Bitter Beer Face (Adam Hall) to camp he reminds me alot of Drake, but a Spartan instead of a Wildcat. Off the top of my head I can not think of any pro player that has the fighting abilitys and the shot that Probie had, he was a great mix.

In all honesty Purdue did not really impress me against Minnesota yesterday, by the end of the game Purdue was gased. They actully had to call a time out because they had a hard time getting back to the line of scrimage before play was to start again.

Unfortunatly, I do not expect Clark or Downey to last through the next set of cuts. The are not finesse players, which really seems to be all the wings are intrested in. Lord only knows you wouldn't want someone with the balls to stick up for and defend themselves or their teammates.
