I met Joe Kocur. My friend's dad has this woodworking company and Joe Kocur hired him to build a tiki bar in his yard down by the lake. He also had his company paint his deck to look nice for a party he was having that weekend with the Stanley Cup on display (this was after we won it in '02). Well they invited me to come help paint the deck with them. So basically I got to hang out in his back yard and Joe was out there all day helping with the painting and whatnot. So we hung out with him for the day it took to paint his deck. My friend's dad spent like a week or so there building the tiki bar though. Joey is a really funny guy. My friend's dad was pointing out how he's just your 'average joe' because he was wearing the same shorts, tshirt and hat every time he came out when they were building the tiki bar. He invited us all to his party with the Stanley Cup there and we all got pics with it. My friend and I had this whole plan of getting pics of us holding the cup up in the air but they wouldn't let us pick it up, we could only stand next to it on display. That was a tad dissappointing but there really was no room for complaints considering we even got to see the Stanley Cup and hang out with Joe Kocur in his backyard. Now everytime I drive by his road I always have to look at his house just because I know it's there and he lives there. Dave Lewis also has a house around there around another friend of mine. We used to see him driving by almost every day. Apparently his wife still lives there or visits there or something like that. My friend's family owns this business called Diehl's Orchard and Cider Mill (ADVERTISEMENT...great place by the way, they have some excellent doughnuts they make right in front of you and hand you a freshly made batch of doughnuts, and you can watch them make the cider!) and Dave went there once in a while.

I pick Lidstrom because: 1. You just don't worry when he's on the ice. 2. He doesn't make many mistakes. 3. He can score. 4. He can hold his bearing. 5. He plays very smart.

SI.com - Michael Farber - Beating the Red Wings

That was a great article. The Preds are my favorite team to play because we're so evenly matched. I hate them being so competitive with us because I like being up top, but at the same time it's nice to have some competition to remind us (err...the Wings) that it doesn't get any easier at the end of the season or in the playoffs. -
What amazes ME is that you guys read his stuff at all. You have no place to complain how bad he is if you keep going back for more. He's a speculator just like everyone else. He just chooses to make a website about it.

He has been great lately. But 23 points in 9 games?? Holy crap ssson! Also, from his profile on NHL.com: "Note Worthy -Leads the NHL in scoring since the All-Star break with 8-12--20 points." And check out this page... http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&am...eStarsStandings He's tied for 1st with 4 1st star selections in the NHL.

I'm gonna have to make this my homepage also. Good find!

Solid news. Holmstrom is accountable for a good chunk of our goals.

My Personal Take: Untouchables: Zetterberg Lidstrom Kronwall Filppula Howard Holmstrom Tradeable (aggresive offering): Lang Datsyuk Samuelsson Williams Markov Anyone else is tradeable for the right offer.
-
I'll be at the game tonight so a high scoring game would be a real treat! It's the first game I've ever been to.
-
On another related note...Holmstrom made NHL's 1st star and Zetterberg made 2nd star.

so a big name player coming in has to mean a big name or two going out, who's on the way out is the next question... I don't even want to guess. I hate losing players even if it does mean getting someone 'better' in return.

I have not watched one complete game this season. This is only because I live in Japan on a military base and we get very limited channels. Hockey games don't play that often, and when they do AND its a Wings game, its at like 3 in the morning. Before I joined the military, I watched about 98% of the Wings games.
